Supplemental Project Manager – Spent Fuel & Radwaste Projects
Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Supplemental Project Manager to support critical projects. This position will focus on spent fuel cleanout, coordination of legacy radioactive waste (radwaste) shipments, and potential radwaste system upgrades. The ideal candidate will have experience managing projects in a nuclear or highly regulated environment and will provide essential support to the site's project execution team, ensuring safety, compliance, and successful delivery of project objectives.
This is a supplemental, contract-based role designed to provide additional leadership and coordination for ongoing and upcoming projects that are essential to plant operations, regulatory compliance, and long-term reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Planning & Execution Support:
- Assist with planning, scheduling, and coordination of spent fuel cleanout activities and legacy radwaste disposition projects.
- Support the development of project scope, cost estimates, schedules, risk assessments, and work breakdown structures.
- Monitor project progress to ensure milestones are achieved on time, within budget, and in compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
- Radwaste Coordination:
- Support the logistics, documentation, and vendor coordination for the safe and compliant shipment of legacy radioactive waste.
- Interface with internal teams and external vendors to ensure proper packaging, transportation, and disposal of materials per NRC, DOT, and site procedures.
- Assist in planning and coordinating potential radwaste system upgrades or modifications, including integration with site operations.
- Stakeholder Communication:
- Act as a liaison between engineering, operations, maintenance, regulatory, and external partners to ensure alignment on project goals and execution plans.
- Provide regular updates, project status reports, and risk assessments to site leadership and project stakeholders.
- Participate in project meetings, track deliverables, and manage documentation to support successful project completion.
- Safety & Regulatory Compliance:
- Support adherence to all NRC, DOE, DOT, and site-specific regulatory requirements.
- Promote a strong nuclear safety culture and apply human performance tools throughout project execution.
- Assist with quality assurance reviews, safety inspections, and compliance audits as needed.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related technical field (required).
- PMP certification or equivalent project management credential (preferred).
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5–8 years of project management experience, preferably within the nuclear power, energy, or regulated utility sector.
- Experience with radwaste handling, spent fuel projects, or system upgrades strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with NRC regulations, waste transportation requirements, and site modification processes.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Proven ability to coordinate complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
- Proficiency with project management tools (Primavera P6, MS Project) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment.
