Job Description :

Stantec's Environmental Services practice seeks a Project Manager with demonstrated experience in New York, to lead environmental regulatory and project permitting efforts, mentor staff, provide project and client management, and support business development opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

Environmental regulatory and permitting responsibilities include:

  • Identifying project-specific environmental regulatory requirements;

  • Coordinating with resource agency personnel;

  • Writing and reviewing technical reports;

  • Developing environmental permit applications (federal, state, and local); presenting at public meetings;

  • Facilitating successful environmental permitting of multiple and varied projects.

Project management responsibilities may include:

  • Developing proposals;

  • Managing projects and budgets; building and managing project teams;

  • Coordinating with clients, subcontractors, stakeholders, and internal project staff; and performing and overseeing project technical work.

Business development responsibilities may include:

  • Maintaining existing client relations and collaborating to develop and pursue new clients and opportunities.

Additional responsibilities may include coordinating, conducting, and/or leading field work.

The Project Manager must solve problems of significant complexity by providing original, innovative, practical, and economical solutions. Work involves planning, directing, and coordinating complex assignments/projects, modifying established guidelines, and initiating new approaches.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Demonstrated experience with local, state, and federal environmental regulations and permitting in New York including regulatory coordination and permit application development.

  • Knowledge of and ability to apply environmental compliance and permitting regulations of applicable regulatory associations, such as NYSPSC, NYSDEC, FERC, ISO, EPA, NEPA, USACE, and USFWS.

  • Ability to effectively present information and represent clients in a public setting, such as a local planning board meeting or public informational meeting.

  • Minimum of 5 years of project management and permitting experience is preferred.

  • Experience permitting large scale energy projects is preferred.

  • Knowledge of documents related to requests for proposals, invitations for bid and tendering offers.

  • Hands-on experience in managing permitting applications and projects from start to finish.

  • Knowledge of computer applications and functions, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

  • Proven experience working in a team environment.

  • Ability to review project work, quantities, costs, accuracy of specifications, completeness, and constructability.

  • Demonstrated experience meeting project deadlines in a cost-effective manner.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication, including advanced technical writing abilities.

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain and establish positive working relationships.

  • Must be able to prioritize, organize and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously.

  • Ability to perform work accurately in a detailed-oriented environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to prepare clear and concise reports, procedures, correspondence and other written materials.

The successful candidate will be self-motivated, self-directed and possess the ability to make sound business decisions. The ability to balance an entrepreneurial, pragmatic approach to business development and project execution is essential. The position requires a focus on client needs, leadership, strategic/critical thinking, and problem-solving skills to advance both the client and Stantec.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree, master's degree in environmental science, law degree, or related field preferred.

  • Minimum 6 years' work experience in the consulting field; or an equivalent combination of education (e.g. advanced degree) and experience.

Pay Range:

• Locations in MN, VT, & Various CA, NY Areas - Min Salary $ 88,300.00 - Max Salary $ 128,000.00

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.

Temporary/casual employees have access to 401(k) plans, employee stock purchase program, and paid leave, in accordance with state and local law.
