Job Summary: Tryfacta is seeking a Project Manager for our client in Albany, 12203. This is a temporary contract assignment. Position Title: Project Manager Location: Remote Location of Candidate: Preferred NY or surrounding States for team meetings. Travel: 5%-10% Duration: 3 years Pay rate: $45.00/hr - $55.00/hr Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
  • The Project Manager will support the Market Scaling Group by managing internal NYSERDA processes, coordinating across departments and with external stakeholders, and maintaining up-to-date program data. The main responsibilities of the Project Manager will include project management, procurement support, program pipeline management and tracking, and cross team coordination. The Project Manager will also have the opportunity to contribute to the develop of new market scaling strategies and initiatives.
Core Responsibilities include:
  • Project Management - (approximately 25% of workload): review project deliverables and track project statuses; communicate with project teams regarding deliverable review, status, and pending deliverables; manage relationships with project teams
  • Contracting & Procurement Support - (20%): track contracting actions across different funding sources; coordinate with NYSERDA's legal, finance, and program operations teams to move contracting and procurement actions through NYSERDA's approval process; maintain templates, timelines, and approval trackers for all Market Scaling procurements
  • Program Pipeline & Metrics Tracking - (15%): collect, organize, and update key program metrics (e.g., number of units in pipeline, disadvantaged communities' participation, incentives committed, support contract budget status) to support the group's objectives and key results and reporting needs; prepare data summaries for internal briefings and external communications; support articulation of project progress and market impact over time
  • Cross-Team Coordination - (15%): schedule and support cross-team meetings, take notes, and track action items and decisions; help ensure alignment with utility programs like the NYS Clean Heat program
  • Budget & Financial Tracking - (10%): maintain real-time projections of funding commitments expenditures across Market Scaling initiatives; provide monthly reporting on budget status to the team lead and NYSERDA finance; identify risks of under- or over-spending and flag corrective needs
  • Documentation & Knowledge Management - (10%): work with program staff on developing programs standard operating procedures and maintaining organization of SharePoint libraries, OneDrive folders, and other project management platforms, and ensure program documents are current and logically structured; assist with drafting memos, internal presentations, and process documents; maintain updated Asana workplans in coordination with team members
  • Additional support that contributes to the key outcomes of the Neighborhood Scale Transformation team - (5%): support emerging team priorities, process improvement, or new program ramp-up as needed

  • Intermediate skill level for Microsoft Excel (ability to use formulas, perform simple analysis on data sets, and review and proofread Excel spreadsheets created by other team members).
  • Understanding of building systems and building decarbonization measures and technology preferred but not required.
  • Experience with Asana or other project management tools preferred but not required.
  • A Bachelor's degree with excellent academic performance and 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Preferred education: A Master's/Advanced degree and 4 years of relevant experience is preferred.
  • Expected Years of Experience: 3-6 years.
  • Has well developed understanding of relevant technical principles and their application to a program area. Develops/formulates Deployment issues, problems and needs in at least one technical area. Has acknowledged expertise at conceptual level of technical skills and knowledge in at least one program area. Has basic understanding of State energy/environmental economic development issues.
  • Has developed and managed projects with little specific direction. Develops new projects and co-funding sources with own initiative. Carried out development of several projects through competitive solicitation phase that may or may not result from own initiative. Has provided ideas and rationale for program development in at least one technical area.
  • Has demonstrated ability to implement projects in a timely manner. Demonstrates the capability to manage all aspects of on-going projects with no supervision. Is able to prioritize workload with other responsibilities. Effectively discharges general technical and project management assignments in a timely manner. Demonstrates strategic thinking connected to the organization's goals.
  • Has demonstrated ability to effectively head working groups or program teams. Provides guidance to junior staff when appropriate and can supervise the day-to-day work of interns. Has full confidence of peers and superiors. People skills have developed to show leadership and an ability to motivate others.
  • Has demonstrated ability to produce both written material and verbal presentations that are direct, recognize and focus on issues, are both comprehensive and concise and require editing only in most sensitive and complex areas. Is able to negotiate effectively with contractors and interface effectively with customers and other outside contacts. Has demonstrated ability to prepare and present papers at professional meetings, seminars and conferences.
