This position oversees the management of consultant design projects to successfully deliver complex infrastructure projects as part of the Department's Work Program. Responsibilities include managing consultant teams, contract budgets, project scope, and engaging with the public on transportation decisions throughout the project lifecycle. The role involves overseeing the production of high-quality deliverables on schedule and within budget, engaging with project stakeholders, and fostering a teamwork-based environment during project design.

Annual Salary Range:
$65,984.53 - $85,391.74
Your Specific Responsibilities:
- Manage design projects with general supervision, assigned to consultant firms, including rural highway capacity, interstate and urban arterial resurfacing, bridge rehabilitation and replacement, mobility projects, etc.
- Coordinate work phases among consultants and disciplines (Right of Way, Testing Lab, Traffic Operations, etc.) to maintain schedules and deadlines.
- Review work packages and technical reports from consultants.
- Serve as a contract manager: develop scope of services, coordinate contract activities, review invoices, and negotiate agreements.
- Stay current on design processes, policies, and procedures; advise and assist consultants on technical and policy matters.
- Monitor project costs and collaborate with Program Management to ensure proper implementation.
- Attend meetings, conduct field reviews, communicate with stakeholders, and provide project status reports.
The Successful Candidate will have the following required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of:
- FDOT Project Management policies and procedures.
- Principles, laws, and regulations governing transportation project development and design.
- Engineering design, construction, and operations.
- Problem solving and research techniques.
Skills in:
- Using engineering tools and equipment.
- Monitoring schedules and coordinating design phases.
- Working effectively with the public, consultants, officials, and agencies.
- Reviewing and negotiating contracts and claims.
- Managing priorities, budgets, and project timelines.
- Communicating effectively in writing and orally.
- Developing scope of services, staff estimates, and negotiating staff hours.
- Reviewing technical data and reports.
Ability to:
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Other Job-Related Requirements:
- Respond to emergencies as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent plus four years of continuous employment, or three years of higher education with 72 semester hours or 108 quarter hours.
