Project Manager, Interconnection

UKA North America is looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of Project Manager, Interconnection within our Engineering and Technical group. This position leads and manages the interconnection strategy and execution for utility-scale renewable energy and energy storage projects across multiple U.S. markets. The successful candidate will manage interconnection activities from initial application through construction, energization, and transition to operations.

The ideal candidate brings strong experience working within FERC-jurisdictional frameworks and has managed interconnection processes in ISOs/RTOs such as PJM, MISO, and ERCOT. This role is perfect for a candidate with both technical fluency and strong project leadership skills who thrives in a fast-paced developer environment.

This individual must be a strong communicator and team player, working cross-functionally with internal teams including development, engineering, finance, and legal. They will be responsible for leading contract negotiations for interconnection agreements and ensuring that interconnection risks and costs are fully integrated into the project's commercial outlook.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the full interconnection lifecycle from application to energization and operations.
  • Serve as primary liaison with ISOs/RTOs, utilities, and transmission providers.
  • Track and manage interconnection deliverables, including payments, security, and milestones.
  • Align interconnection schedule and budget with development, permitting, and construction timelines to reduce overall project risk profile
  • Review and interpret interconnection study results and provide commercial guidance.
  • Lead negotiations for interconnection agreements and related transmission contracts.
  • Coordinate internal teams on design, milestones, and contract compliance.
  • Support interconnection-related construction activities and utility coordination.
  • Oversee site energization and ensure a smooth transition to operations.
  • Monitor regulatory changes (FERC, ISO queues) and assess project impacts.
  • Maintain interconnection trackers and report status across internal stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Systems, Business, Economics or related field; advanced degree a plus.
  • PMP and/or PE Certification is a plus.
  • At least 5 years of experience managing utility-scale interconnection projects, with at least 3 years on the developer or IPP side.
  • Strong understanding of FERC Orders and ISO/RTO tariffs.
  • Deep familiarity with interconnection processes in PJM, MISO, and ERCOT.
  • Proficiency with ISO queue systems and portals (e.g., OATI OASIS, PJM eTools, MISO GI Queue, ERCOT MIS and RIOO).
  • Proven ability to lead interconnection agreement negotiations through to execution.
  • Experience supporting or managing utility coordination through construction and energization.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills; effective across technical and commercial teams.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to handle multiple complex projects in parallel.
