Position Summary

The Project Manager supports the department in coordination with hospital leadership through the planning, oversight and execution of projects related but not limited to quality, patient safety, regulatory affairs, HIPAA and compliance. The department will utilize the Project Managers expertise to prioritize projects, to develop detailed project plans for major safety & regulatory initiatives, assist other members of the department in planning projects, and assure a structured, well-planned approach for successful outcomes & project completion.

Job Duties & Essential Functions

  • Collaborates on and coordinates organization-wide efforts to develop and manage projects related to quality of care and patient safety, regulatory compliance, HIPAA, and supports regulatory responses to survey findings and to reportable incidents.
  • Responsible for planning, execution, and delivery of projects to ensure reliable and successful project implementation covering the total scope of the project.
  • Identifying and defining project requirements, scope and objectives.
  • Coordinating internal and external resources for the seamless execution of projects.
  • Ensuring that the project is delivered on-time, within scope and within budget.
  • Ensuring adherence to healthcare regulations and standards.
  • Managing relationships with stakeholders, including patients, medical staff and administrators.
  • Reporting and escalating issues to management as needed.
  • Maintaining comprehensive project documentation.
  • Identifying and mitigating project risks.
  • Communicates project expectations to team members and stakeholders.
  • Develops detailed project plans, timelines and milestones and oversees execution.
  • Manages changes to the project scope, project schedule, and project costs using appropriate verification techniques.
  • Participates in quality improvement projects as assigned, including Leapfrog, Health Equity, Root Cause Analyses and Failure Mode Effects Analyses.
  • Performs those processes that are required to track, review and regulate the progress and performance of the project and makes necessary adjustments to meet objectives.
  • Coordinates clinical meetings, including agenda setting, minute creation and distribution for various committees as assigned.
  • Ensures compliance and improvement with the following: HIPAA, Health Equity, Leapfrog Survey, Joint Commission, Federal and New York State Regulation, Risk Management.
  • Maintains ethical relationships.
  • Adheres to hospital and departmental rules and regulations.
  • Participate in in-service programs.
  • Participate in annual recertification training, compliance training, HIPPA training.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned by management.

The selected candidate will work on site in Greenport 5 days a week.

Required Education & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing or other health related profession
  • Experience with one or more quality improvement models or methodologies (i.e., Lean, Six-Sigma, Model for Improvement/Plan-Do-Study-Act, FOCUS)
  • At least 2 years of work experience in Quality and Regulatory Affairs or project management
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks concurrently
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong data analytic skills
  • Strong group leadership and organization skills
  • Innovative thinking, facilitation, and consensus building skills Ability to work well both independently and as a part of a team

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established based on relevant experience. The above salary range (or hiring range) represents SBEILH's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. Your total compensation goes beyond the number in your paycheck!

Prior to start date, the selected candidate must meet the following requirements:

  • Successfully complete pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Southampton Hospital's Employee Health Services*
  • Complete electronic reference check with a minimum of three (3) professional references.
  • Successfully complete a 4 panel drug screen*
  • Meet Regulatory Requirements for pre-employment screenings.
  • Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).

 Failure to comply with any of the above requirements could result in a delayed start date and/or revocation of the employment offer.

With 70 beds, SBELIH is Suffolk County's first hospital, serving the North Fork since 1905.
