POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a Project Engineering Lead for an immediate project operating out of Fort Huachuca, AZ. We are looking for an experienced Lead overseeing teams of telecommunications technicians executing short-term “on-demand” tasks based on Government customer requirements.

The position will be responsible for facilitating the delivery of assigned IT projects on time within budget and scope. The person will provide requisite support in defining business requirements and reporting them back to stakeholders.

RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES

Assist with project planning, providing complete design solutions. Includes IT/Telecom infrastructure and communications cabling, MPOE, server rooms, intermediate distribution frame (IDF) rooms, outside plant cabling, horizontal cabling, wireless networking, and low voltage systems (paging, emergency phones clock systems). Responsible for the design and implementation of telecommunications systems including: Technical requirements analysis, including site assessments, solutions recommendations, construction administration, and project oversight. Evaluates new customer requirements and develop scope of work documents with pricing estimates.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • BICSI installer level II copper certified Optical Fiber
  • RCDD Certification or equivalent.
  • BS degree in engineering, engineering management, mathematics, or information technology, or similar science/technology degree.
  • Previous project leader experience.
  • 15+ years of experience in systems development and systems engineering, as applicable to the task, in one or more of the following areas:
    • Communications Command and Control.
    • Data and information processing.
    • Modeling and simulation.
    • Information assurance and operations.
    • Network and system management.
  • Background in the DoD development and/or acquisition environment (e.g., requirements definition, work planning, budget control, task control, contract management, and personnel communications methods and procedures).Proven experience contributing to successful proposal development
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Security Clearance: An active DoD Secret Clearance is required.
  • Contractor Status: Proven ability to work independently as a 1099 contractor, including managing personal insurance and taxes.
  • Technical Acumen: Strong understanding of advanced IT cabling standards, best practices, and complex troubleshooting techniques, particularly within classified network environments.
  • Site Access: Ability to obtain/maintain a valid driver's license and on-post driving privileges at Fort Huachuca and other CONUS Army installations.

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

  • PMI Program Management Professional certification
  • Experience in managing project designs and construction oversight
  • Working knowledge of construction documents, including drawings and Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) format specifications
  • Low voltage/signal design & calculations for conduit sizing and pulling tension.
  • Working knowledge of audio-visual and security systems.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Must have the ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds without assistance.
  • Ability to bend, squat, climb (ladders), and reach.
  • Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Repetitive motion, substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Close visual acuity required for tasks such as preparing and analyzing data, viewing a computer monitor, and extensive reading.
  • May be exposed to varying environmental conditions typical of construction or IT installation sites.
