Primary Function:
The Project Engineer supports all plant departments by providing technical expertise across production, operations, and packaging. Reporting directly to the Plant General Manager, this role also involves managing special projects to ensure the facility remains technically proficient and operates efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- The Project Engineer will lead assigned projects from concept to completion, including scope definition, budgeting, scheduling, procurement, contractor coordination, and commissioning.
- Collaborate with corporate engineering to assess project feasibility and define scope.
- Oversee equipment installation, startup, troubleshooting, and performance evaluation.
- The Project Engineer will provide daily technical assistance to the Maintenance Department.
- Support plant initiatives to improve safety, quality, productivity, and cost efficiency.
- Contribute to equipment management and strategic planning aligned with plant goals.
- Maintain and update quality system documentation, act as the plant's quality management representative.
- The Project Engineer will implement and verify improvements to processes and systems.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and reporting requirements.
- Serve as the primary contact for contractors on-site during project execution.
- Communicate project status regularly with department supervisors.
- Demonstrate leadership, professionalism, and technical knowledge in interactions with plant staff and external partners.
Qualifications
- The Project Engineer must hold a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related engineering.
- Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience from a carbon black manufacturing company
- Proficiency in PC and network-based applications
- The Project Engineer must have strong communication skills—verbal and written
- High energy, team-oriented, and strong technical problem-solving abilities
- Confident working with diverse personalities and cross-functional teams
