Heavy Civil Construction Superintendent

We are seeking a seasoned Heavy Civil Construction Superintendent to oversee field operations for infrastructure and site development projects across Westchester County. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in excavation, underground utilities, grading, paving, and drainage, and will be responsible for ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage daily field operations on heavy civil construction projects.
• Supervise and schedule crews for grading, drainage, paving, milling, and utility installation.
• Coordinate with Project Managers to plan work activities, safety protocols, and logistics.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
• Monitor project progress, budgets, and schedules; provide regular updates to stakeholders.
• Train and mentor Foremen, Equipment Operators, and Laborers.
• Assist with survey and field layout as needed.
• Maintain high standards of quality and productivity on-site.
• Communicate effectively with subcontractors, suppliers, and inspectors.

Essential Skills

• Minimum 10 years of experience in heavy civil construction, with at least 5 years in a superintendent role.
• Proven leadership and team management skills.
• Strong understanding of civil construction methods and safety practices.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction plans and specifications.
• OSHA 30 certification preferred (OSHA 10 and First Aid certification required).
• Ability to work flexible hours, including some weekends.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Mission-critical infrastructure projects.
• Familiarity with Westchester County regulations and permitting processes.
• Experience with public works or municipal contracts.

Work Environment

The work environment includes managing projects ranging from $50k to $52M. The company is a Minority/Women-owned Business Enterprise (MWBE) with approximately 60 employees, including 12-15 office staff. The company handles yearly projects valued at $25-$30M. The role requires proficiency in project management and estimating software, and flexible work hours, including some weekends.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mount Vernon, New York.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $140000.00 - $180000.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
