Position Summary
The Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Engineering at Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC) seeks a skilled Project Engineer to oversee infrastructure renovation projects, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and building management systems. The role involves supervising professional consultants and collaborating with various CUIMC departments to coordinate project stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Prepare contracts for architectural, engineering, and construction services.
- Coordinate on-site activities of contractors and manage procurement processes.
- Oversee bid document preparation and manage project budgets and schedules.
- Maintain comprehensive records of project documentation.
- Review technical drawings and specifications, oversee project scoping, budgeting, design, construction, and commissioning.
- Manage project compliance, energy management, and regulatory approvals.
- Utilize Primavera Unifier and communicate effectively with project teams.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree plus five years of related experience or equivalent education and experience.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Background in engineered building systems such as HVAC, BMS, and infrastructure.
- Preferred: Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, PE license, LEED accreditation, and scheduling training (Primavera or MS Project).
- Certified Project Manager (CPM).
Other Requirements
- Supervise project team members and coordinate with safety and operational departments.
- Assist in financial management of capital projects, including requisitions and invoice processing.
- Ensure site safety and minimal disruption during construction.
- Lead project teams to ensure timely completion.
- Review and critique MEP/Infrastructure designs.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
