Project Engineer – Infrastructure & MEP Renovations – $135K–$150K – 35 Hrs/Week

United Staffing Solutions is hiring a skilled Project Engineer for a major institutional campus in NYC. The Facilities Project Engineer will oversee high-profile capital improvement projects focused on infrastructure, mechanical/electrical/plumbing (MEP) upgrades, and facility modernization.

This full-time role offers a 35-hour work week and a competitive salary range of $135,000 – $150,000 annually.

Position Overview

Located in Washington Heights NYC, the campus is easily accessible by multiple subway and bus lines and surrounded by restaurants, parks, and local amenities. The Project Engineer will be responsible for managing design, construction, commissioning, and close-out of infrastructure and MEP projects, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review infrastructure, HVAC, and MEP drawings, specifications, and engineering documents
  • Provide technical oversight and troubleshooting support for State-of-Good-Repair and capital improvement projects
  • Coordinate on-site work with general contractors, subcontractors, and cross-functional facilities teams
  • Prepare bid documents and oversee the bidding process in accordance with institutional policies
  • Manage requisitions, purchase orders, invoices, financial reconciliation, and project close-out
  • Develop and maintain detailed project budgets and schedules using Primavera or Microsoft Project
  • Maintain organized electronic and hard-copy records of correspondence, contracts, drawings, and specifications
  • Oversee commissioning, start-up, and energy management for engineered building systems (HVAC, boilers, chillers, BMS)
  • Communicate effectively with Facilities Operations, EH&S, Public Safety, Space Planning, Telecom/Data, and other stakeholders
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years' experience as a Project Engineer, Facilities Project Engineer, or MEP Project Engineer, preferably in healthcare, education, or large institutional environments
  • Bachelor's degree plus five (5) years of related experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong background in engineered building systems, including HVAC, boilers, chillers, BMS, and other infrastructure
  • Certified Project Manager (CPM) designation
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Highly :
    • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering
    • Professional Engineer (PE) license
    • LEED accreditation
    • Professional training in scheduling software such as Primavera or Microsoft Project
