Howard S. Wright, a Balfour Beatty Company, is seeking a qualified Project Engineer to join our team in Eastern Washington (Tri-Cities, Hermiston, Yakima). The Project Engineer supports the Project Manager in planning and executing construction projects. Responsibilities include maintaining project schedules, managing submittal approvals, coordinating material deliveries, and overseeing budgets. The role also involves managing subcontractor compliance with contract documents, with a requirement of 30 hours of OSHA training every four years.

Essential Functions

• Assist project management by managing project budgets, controlling expenses, overseeing billings, and ensuring project cost and schedule success.

Preconstruction Services

• Establish procedures for controlling contract drawings.
• Set up the job management system.
• Assist with scope of work development, bid packages, and solicitations.
• Participate in constructability reviews.

Project Start-up and Scheduling

• Assist in developing site utilization plans.
• Coordinate safety, sustainability, and quality control plans.
• Manage subcontractor pre-work orientation and documentation.
• Manage submittal logs and coordinate with subcontractors.

Project Administration, Coordination, and Close-out

• Review and process submittals and shop drawings to ensure timely delivery.
• Conduct preconstruction meetings.
• Verify subcontractor deliveries meet requirements.
• Participate in meetings, prepare progress reports, and update as-built drawings.
• Manage change proposals and owner close-out documentation.

Customer Relations

• Build relationships with clients, teams, and stakeholders, reflecting company values and exceeding expectations.

Working Conditions

Work primarily on job sites or in office trailers, requiring PPE and adaptability to weather conditions. May need to relocate to different project sites as necessary.

Education, Experience, and Knowledge

• B.S. in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field with 2-4 years of experience, or 5-6 years of construction trade experience.
• Complete OSHA courses within six months of hire.
• Demonstrate leadership, organizational, decision-making, and communication skills.
• Proficient in PC use and Microsoft Office tools.

The salary range for this role is $78,000 - $88,000 annually.
