Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain cost control systems and procedures for the project.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for ongoing and future project phases, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
- Monitor the project schedule (program) and ensure alignment between the construction progress and cost forecast.
- Track actual costs versus budgeted costs, analyze variances, and report findings to project leadership.
- Produce accurate and timely monthly cost reports, cash flow forecasts, and earned value metrics.
- Collaborate with project managers, planners, procurement, and commercial teams to update and validate cost and program data.
- Develop revenue forecasts based on current progress, planned works, and contractual entitlements.
- Assist with change management, including cost impacts of variations and claims.
- Ensure project compliance with internal controls, accounting standards, and client reporting requirements.
- Support project risk assessments and mitigation strategies from a cost and program perspective.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum (5–8) years of experience in a project controls or cost engineering role, preferably on large-scale heavy civil or infrastructure projects.
- Strong background in cost control, estimating, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Proficiency in project control software and tools (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project, Excel, cost management systems).
- Knowledge of earned value management (EVM) and other performance measurement techniques.
- Familiarity with construction contracts and commercial frameworks (e.g., NEC, FIDIC, or similar).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail.
- Effective communication and stakeholder management abilities.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience on projects such as pump stations, roads, bridges, tunnels, marine, or rail infrastructure.
- Professional certifications (e.g., CCP, AACEI, PMP) are an asset.
- Understanding of local market conditions, subcontractor pricing, and construction sequencing.
