UMEC Programmer/Business Analyst – Job Description
This position is with United Metro Energy Company, located in Greenpoint Brooklyn.
Local Candidates Only at this time. This is a FT in person onsite position.
The programmer/business analyst (P/BA) will collaborate with internal stakeholders to
gather business requirements and develop clear and detailed functional specifications of how
the company's info systems should work to fulfill the requirements. They will oversee and work
with both internal and external resources to deliver projects with an understanding of end-to-
end product development lifecycle. This includes applying project management methodologies
such as Agile (link), and leveraging development productivity tools that's available to the
company like Microsoft Project or Asana, and some programming.
A key component of this role is effective stakeholder management. The P/BA will work
closely with internal subject matter experts as part of cross-functional project teams, while
actively keeping management informed about project progress and escalating challenges as
needed (link). Additionally, the P/BA will partner with vendors to better understand their
system's functionalities and leverage their support.
The P/BA will create a medium term (1-2 years) road map for prioritizing and addressing the
company's backlog of business requirements, including:
1) Support UEPT's Allegro implementation and aftercare
2) Enhancements to ADD functionalities such as:
a. Ignoring finance charges when evaluating account holds
b. Optimizing driver routes
c. Support other ADD initiatives including E3 DB Migration, Pegasus
Implementation, Upgrade to ADD E360 etc.
3) Upgrading Allegro to the latest version, and fully utilize its functionalities, including:
a. Inventory Management
b. Inventory Valuation
c. Lower of Cost or Market calculation
d. COGS Calculation
e. Decommissioning the current inventory Excel workbook used for the above
calculations
4) Business Intelligence initiatives such as:
a. Optimize source system data architecture in the data warehouse
b. Produce a daily dashboard of key business metrics
c. Automate the Daily report
5) Multiview
a. Further integrate Allegro / ADDs to the general ledger:
i. Feed sales entries
ii. Feed inventory entries: Valuation & LCM
b. Implement Accounts Payable (AP) workflow
c. Automate depreciation / amortizations, and prepaid entries by utilizing system functionalities
Skillsets/Requirements
The Programmer/Business Analyst will design, develop, and/or integrate third-party systems, as
well as support and troubleshoot, for United Metro, an energy company. Candidate will work
with both end users and developers, and responsibilities include but are not limited to, helping
troubleshoot issues, analyzing systems, auditing, or verifying data, testing, and evaluating.
Position Requirements include the following (other duties may be assigned):
Exceptional business acumen and a quick learner. Business acumen in the Energy business is
highly desired.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally
with a diverse group, including executives, business domain stakeholders, subject matter
experts, managers, and techies.
Collaborates with senior team members to develop and configure software components,
interact with associates, and develops subject matter expertise in specific platform
components.
Well-rounded functional knowledge of some or all: General Ledger, Accounts Receivable,
Accounts Payable, Financial Close, Consolidation, and Financial Reporting.
Ability to design system solutions for new, existing, and integrated systems. Candidate
should be able to design end-to-end solutions (ie. front-end interfaces, functional
programming capabilities, middleware components, database designs). Solutions designed
need to be robust in terms of providing appropriate auditing, disaster recovery,
backup/restore. Solutions designed also need to ensure robustness in terms of underlying
Cloud-based infrastructure for memory utilization, storage, and CPU usage.
Creating business requirements documents and system design documents and use cases.
Ability to create deployment documentation; process flows, use cases, test scenarios and
scripts, and training guides.
Participates as a part of teams working to help our associates adopt business applications
platforms.
Be accountable for the quality, timeliness, and delivery of your own work on platforms.
Identify risks within the scope of your own work, formulate recommended courses of action
and communicate to project leadership, and work under guidance towards their resolution.
Technical Environment: WordPress, Jenkins, MySQL, MSSQL, Java, PHP, Python, SQL, Stored
Procedures, Tomcat, HTML, JavaScript, CSS, IIS, C#, API (Google API, Platts API...), Talend
ESB, ETL (Extract, Transform, and Load), Reporting.
Education/Experience:
BS in Business, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or equivalent
experience required.
5-7 years' experience as a Systems Architect with solid technical skills, preferably with a
cloud-based application focus.
Decision making ability, seasoned judgment, skills in planning.
Personal depth, in the form of mature confidence, adaptability, self‐direction, and
organization, ability to foster teamwork.
Ability to obtain TWIC Card.
