Overview:
Harlem Grown's mission is to inspire youth to lead healthy and ambitious lives through mentorship and hands-on education in urban farming, sustainability, and nutrition. Since 2011, Harlem Grown has operated local urban farms and provided farm-based development programs to Harlem youth in District 5 schools, as well as after-school, on Saturdays, and during school breaks. The volunteer opportunity for your students would be for our after-school program located at 127 W 127th St.
Description:
The program volunteer is a weekly commitment for 12 weeks during the fall semester between 3:00pm – 6:00pm at 127 W 127th St. Working under the supervision of the Program Management Team, the volunteer assists with daily program tasks, classroom preparation, and cleanup after gardening and cooking classes. Volunteers have the opportunity to develop and share skills related to growing organic food in an urban environment and will work alongside equally enthusiastic advocates of food and farm education.

The program volunteer is a 12-week unpaid commitment, which can take place Monday - Friday. A volunteer will pick one day of the week that works in their schedule to commit to for the semester. The program begins the week of September 29 and concludes the week of December 15th.
