The Program Manager (PM) for Research will perform a full range of functions for research staff, faculty and personnel, including managing the research fellowship program and student program for the MGB Department of Anesthesiology. This individual will partner with Human Resources (HR) and be the focal point for departmental researchers to address recruitment and staffing needs for their lab personnel, including research fellows, research support staff, and non-employee extended workers.
Key responsibilities in the MGB Department of Anesthesiology include:
- Responsible for overseeing the hiring process by posting for lab positions, providing job descriptions and salary level requirements, preparing new hire documentation and working closely with HR and benefits to complete the employment process.
- Manages the research fellow program by submitting credentialing appointments to the Professional Staff Office(s), ensures compliance of research fellows' PGY levels and secures adequate documentation along with orientation and benefits information, etc.
- Liaisons with HMS Office for Faculty Affairs in submitting new research appointment requests, renewals, promotions, and terminations
- Implements and manages the onboarding process for research personnel and extended workers (e.g. students, research collaborators), by providing guidelines for hiring managers, onboarding and new hire checklist and providing department contacts and policies as requested
- Assist in preparation of visa applications and renewals, as appropriate
- Serves as a manager support for employees and extended workers, coordinating annual career conferences, processing terminations, transfers and extensions, after ensuring visa requirements are met; Manage off boarding process for exiting research personnel
- Timekeeper for research personnel
- Provides manager support in processing cost transfers and salary redistributions
- Assists pre- and post-award grant administrators in the preparation and management of grant applications, materials, annual reporting, and closeout as needed
- Planning and logistics for convening research events (trainings/meetings, teleconferences, etc.), multidisciplinary activities and research forums
- Advises PIs and/or designee on administrative processes (e.g., travel reimbursements, purchase order requisitions, check requests, unallowable expenditures, etc.)

Leads the communication and collaboration with stakeholders. Develops the program schedule, budget, and various program and project plan details. Analyzes data, prepares reports, and provides regular updates to program leadership. Identifies and escalates issues and risks and recommends solutions. Leads and provides guidance and support to other administrative team members.

-Manages the program budget, ensuring responsible allocation of resources and adherence to financial guidelines.

Registered Nurse [RN - State License] - Generic - HR Only preferred Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic [Massachusetts] - Massachusetts Office of Emergency Medical Services preferred
