Program Manager, Weekend Miracles Program

Position: Full-time, Exempt

Reports to: Senior Vice President/Director of Family Visit Programs

Work Location: Virginia (Northern, Central and Piedmont regions) with expansion to Eastern and Western Regions in 2026. Hybrid: approximately, half time remote; in–person meetings, trainings, networking, weekend outreach, and monthly connection events

The Opportunity

Kidsave is seeking a passionate Champion for Change, a driven, hands-on leader who believes every child deserves to grow up connected to a loving, permanent family. If you're energized by transforming child welfare systems, building community partnerships, and advocating for older youth in foster care, this role is for you.

As part of an experienced and mission-driven team, you'll help connect older, often-overlooked kids with adults who can become hosts, mentors, and ultimately, adoptive families—using Kidsave's innovative and proven Family Visit Model.

The Weekend Miracles Program Manager will lead all aspects of the program in Virginia, working closely with our national Family Visit Programs team, communications staff, and a network of dedicated volunteers and partners. This role requires enthusiasm, vigor, daily hands-on participation, and monthly attendance at weekend Meet the Kids connection events.

Key Responsibilities

Program Operations

  • Manage all day-to-day operations of Weekend Miracles Virginia
  • Lead and supervise regional staff, coordinators, and volunteers.
  • Organize and oversee monthly “Meet the Kids” connection events for youth and host families.
  • Manage youth referrals and matches, including Connection Meetings.
  • Ensure trauma-informed, youth-centered relationship-building between youth and host families.
  • Track and support and host family relationships
  • Manage individual youth advocacy efforts, including youth and family stories and photography
  • Improve family/youth matching outcomes.

Family and Community Engagement

  • Lead recruitment, training, and support of host families, with intentional outreach to Black, Latino, and LGBTQIA communities.
  • Conduct host family trainings and orientations for child welfare professionals.
  • Identify, cultivate and manage community and corporate partnerships to build awareness, recruit volunteers, and secure event sponsorships.
  • Represent Kidsave and advocate for older youth at conferences and in the media.

Government and Agency Relations

  • Lead relationship with state and local government partners and foster family agencies
  • Strengthen both youth and family referral pipelines
  • Participate in meetings and trainings that build program credibility and foster systemic change.

Marketing, Outreach, and Communications

  • Manage program outreach efforts in Virginia.
  • Support communications efforts by sharing stories, capturing photos, and advocating for youth.
  • Engage with social media and partner networks to promote the program.
  • Collaborate with the communications and development teams

Data, Evaluation, and Fundraising

  • Oversee data collection and analysis to support evaluation, storytelling, and grant reporting.
  • Participate in program grant writing and other fundraising efforts related to events, outreach, and recruitment.

Skills and Experience

  • Strategic, proactive problem-solver with strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and leadership skills; capable of motivating teams, government and agency partners, and volunteers
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Comfortable presenting to stakeholders.
  • Ability to organize and lead events, build relationships, manage, and work within budgets.
  • Tech-savvy and collaborative; ability to learn new software quickly and work in a shared environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Zoom/Teams, and social media platforms; Salesforce and Peer-to-Peer platforms a plus.

Education and Qualifications:

  • 7+ years' work experience, including 5+ in the child welfare system working with foster youth and families
  • MSW, MSSW or MSSA degree
  • Valid Driver's License and ability to travel across state
  • Successful completion of a background check required
  • Experience with trauma-focused child welfare training
  • Experience managing people, events, volunteers
  • Experience with Black, Latino, and LGBTQIA communities strongly preferred.
  • Grant writing and program evaluation experience a plus

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Salary range: $75,000-80,000 per annum, commensurate with experience.
