Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) - Program Manager (Community Coordinator - 56058)
The New York City Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) invests in a network of community-based organizations and programs to alleviate the effects of poverty and to provide opportunities for New Yorkers and communities to flourish.
Under the supervision of a COMPASS Deputy Director, with latitude to exercise independent action and decision-making, the Program Manager will be responsible for monitoring over 25 sites and perform the following duties:
Monitor and evaluate Community-Based Organization (CBO) COMPASS contractors.Review and approve program plans.Conduct site visits during late afternoon and early evening hours.Provide technical assistance and direct work improvement or corrective actions for underperforming CBO contractors.Participate in contract negotiations.Advance knowledge of COMPASS sites by providing technical assistance and sharing resources to promote program quality.Provide technical expertise to contractors in the development stages of their contracts and contracts.Evaluate contract performance reports and agency fiscal documents to ensure contract compliance.Become proficient in and provide training to CBOs on DYCD CONNECT, DYCD's web-based program management system.Prepare summary reports for higher administrative levels with recommendations to improve program performance.Prepare standard reports as designated by higher management.Perform other projects and tasks as needed to support the COMPASS unit and its programs.Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must meet one of the following:
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community-centered activities related to the duties described above.
- High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community-centered activities related to the duties described above.
- Equivalent education and/or experience to the above, with at least one year of experience as described in the first point.
Preferred Skills
- Background in working with community-based organizations.
- Experience or knowledge of after-school or youth development programming.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Computer literacy, with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Familiarity with DYCD's data system DYCD CONNECT; experience preferred.
Residency Requirement
NYC residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. Please discuss residency requirements with the agency representative during the interview.
