Delta's Environmental Programs team is responsible for establishing policies and frameworks for environmental media areas, including air quality, wastewater, stormwater, waste regulation, spill response, tank regulation, and environmental remediation. The Program Manager – Waste & Remediation reports to the General Manager - Environmental Programs and is a subject matter expert in waste management and environmental remediation.

The role involves providing strategic direction, support, and expertise in waste and remediation programs, requiring broad environmental regulatory knowledge, especially in RCRA and remediation. The manager will collaborate with internal teams across Delta and apply system-level thinking to develop effective environmental programs.

Responsibilities (not exhaustive):
  • Develop policies, procedures, and initiatives to improve environmental compliance.
  • Utilize Delta's environmental management systems to support operational divisions.
  • Engage with environmental consultants to leverage expertise and mitigate risks.
  • Support legal, real estate, and other teams in permits, reports, leases, and ESG reporting.
  • Advise managers on waste and remediation practices.
  • Manage compliance issues with regulatory agencies.
  • Use data to monitor program performance and identify improvement areas.
  • Track and evaluate relevant federal and state regulations for implementation.
  • Lead environmental professionals and promote safety risk management.

Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering, sciences, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • 5-7 years managing environmental compliance programs, especially hazardous waste and remediation.
  • Strong communication, strategic thinking, and project management skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and environmental management systems.
  • Willingness to travel up to 20%.
Preferred qualifications:
  • 3+ years in the aviation industry.
  • Experience with environmental management systems like Intelex or ACTs.
  • Certifications such as PE, REM, or CHMM.
