The New York City Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) invests in a network of community-based organizations and programs to alleviate the effects of poverty and to provide opportunities for New Yorkers and communities to flourish. DYCDs Beacon Community Center is comprised of over 90 school-based programs serving young people enrolled in grades K-12 during afterschool hours; and Young Adults/Older Adults and families in the evening and on weekends. Through its network of community partners, Beacon Community Centers offers high quality programs that offer a strong balance of academic enrichment, recreation, cultural and skill building activities that build 21st century skills. Beacon community partners are awarded funds through a competitive Request For Proposal (RFP) process. Under the supervision of the Deputy Director with latitude for the exercise of independent action and decision making, provides leadership and support to the Department in ensuring compliance with all internal and external program standards, and to promote continuous quality improvement.
