Job Title: Program Director

Status: Full-time, Mon-Fri. 9 am - 5 pm (hours may vary, on call required)

FLSA Classification: Exempt

Job Location: Brooklyn, New York

Reports to: Vice President

Salary Range: $85,000 - $95,000

Hunterfly Trace located in Brownsville, Brooklyn, comprises 62 units, including 55 – DOHMH and 7 - Community supportive housing units for single adults exiting homelessness. These units are funded by DHS and DOHMH (ALL units include case management).

Objective:

The Program Director (PD) requires strong knowledge of service delivery, mental health systems, supervisory and administrative skills, and the ability to ensure quality services and program operations. The role involves decision-making, programmatic change facilitation, attention to detail, and effective communication, including computer literacy.

The PD supervises the Assistant Program Director and Program Associate, ensuring clients receive housing stability and quality of life services that meet standards. The role promotes a high-functioning, engaging, and inclusive team environment emphasizing values of equity, belonging, and justice.

Position Type: Full-time, exempt, with a regular daytime schedule and on-call responsibilities. Work hours may vary based on operational needs.

Essential Functions:

  • Supervise clinical and case management staff, promote professional development, and review documentation for quality care.
  • Conduct chart reviews, analyze dashboards and reports, and develop policies and strategies to support outcomes and accountability.
  • Provide clinical supervision for treatment planning and safety assessments.
  • Facilitate referrals and liaise with community resources, care agencies, and providers.
  • Develop supervision and accountability systems, ensuring harm reduction approaches are used.
  • Identify training needs, support staff engagement, and collaborate with property management and community partners.
  • Coordinate with QA/QI departments, develop client-centered programs, hire/train staff, and manage disciplinary processes.
  • Evaluate client risks, support crisis response, and manage incident reports.
  • Oversee daily program operations, complete reports, and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Required Education and Experience:

    • MSW or MHC degree from an accredited institution; license required within 1 year.
    • Minimum five years supervisory experience in social services.
    • Knowledge of HIV/AIDS, mental health, substance use, homeless populations, and experience with relevant contracts and regulations.
    • Strong clinical, interpersonal, and organizational skills; experience with databases and report writing.
    • Commitment to values of equity, belonging, and justice.

    Experience:

    • Managing property management relationships in supportive housing.
    • Fiscal oversight of program budgets.
    • Experience with evidence-based models like Motivational Interviewing.

    Work Environment: Supportive housing site working with individuals experiencing mental illness, addiction, HIV, and chronic illnesses.

    Physical Demands: Regular standing, walking, sitting, stooping, climbing stairs, kneeling, typing, handling, feeling, talking, hearing, and occasional lifting up to 5 pounds.
