This money is available for tuition loan reimbursement, tuition costs, and text books.OverviewThe Housing Works Emergency & Transitional Housing Program (ETH) provides time limited transitional housing and support services to individuals reentering the community following periods of incarceration or other justice system involvement. Program participants engage in a variety of onsite services, including case management, vocational training, housing advocacy and mental health support that address barriers to accessing housing in the community and help build skills that participants can use to achieve and maintain stable functioning in the community.The Program Director for Emergency & Transitional Housing (ETH) provides centralized administrative and operational oversight to the three ETH program sites located in Queens, NY, including supervision of key program and operations staff, coordinating vendor contracted services, maintaining compliance with internal and external standards, conducting staff meetings and leading activities related to quality improvement.The Program Director will also work closely with the Vice President of Justice Initiatives, other agency leaders, and the Mayor's Office of Criminal Justice to ensure the physical environment and overall delivery of services are aligned with agency goals and client needs, driving positive outcomes for participants. The Program Director is a member of the agency's Senior Leadership Team, and as such is expected to uphold the Housing Works organizational values and engage in activities that further the agency's mission.This is an ideal opportunity reentry or housing services professional with supervisory and management experience who is looking to develop skills in the area of program administration, and who is enthusiastic about working alongside an interdisciplinary team of like-minded professionals committed to improving outcomes for justice involve individuals.Responsibilities

  • Program Management: Oversee day-to-day operations of the ETH program
    • Collaborate with other program leaders to develop and implement program policies and procedures that promote optimal program functioning and promote achievement of program goals and objectives.
  • Participant Services: Ensure participant access to support services that address social determinants of health including, employment, education, healthcare and housing
    • Work with ETH staff and clients to create a program environment the that promotes overall well-being of participants
    • Participate as needed in resolving client grievances, conduct violations and disciplinary interventions
    • Create opportunities for structured and non-structured participant feedback.
  • Staffing & Supervision: Provide direct supervision to Operations Coordinator and Programs Supervisor at each site
    • Conduct annual evaluation for direct reports and collaborate with direct reports on professional development plans
    • Participate in staff recruitment, onboarding and terminations.
  • Budget Management: Work closely with Department VP to develop annual budget and meet monthly budget goals
    • Review monthly expense with Operations Coordinator, Program Supervisor and fiscal to monitor expenses
  • Quality & Compliance: Work with Department VP and site leaders to implement process for collecting program performance data.
    • Report monthly to agency and other stakeholders on select performance metrics.
    • Work with Department VP and site leaders to implement quality improvement activities as needed.
    • Maintain compliance with internal and external program standards.
  • Stakeholder Relations: In partnership with VP for Justice Initiatives, function as representative and point person for communications with Housing Works Senior Team members, community stakeholders, vendors, funder, and partner organizations.

  • Interest and commitment to working with homeless individuals and individuals with chronic health or behavioral health issues.
  • Ability to maintain a strengths-based, harm reduction perspective.
  • Ability to embrace a diverse racial, ethnic, gender expressive and lived experience environment.
  • Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required.
  • Ability to work primarily onsite in office-based settings.
  • Ability to respond to emergent situations, or incidents, after standard business hours as needed.
  • Intermittent remote work possible, based on program needs.
  • Ability to travel between offices by public transportation. Active driver's license and access to personal car is ideal. Mileage between work sites is reimbursed and parking is available at each program location at no cost.
  • Ability to participate in occasional offsite indoor and outdoor events including but not limited to meetings at administrative offices in Brooklyn, advocacy events, and community board meetings.
