Program Coordinator (STRIVE)Grade 14 Non-Bargaining UnitFLSA Exempt BASIC FUNCTIONThe Community College of Vermont (CCV) seeks a professional to work at a high level to help the College execute the goals of the Science and Technology Research Initiative for the Vermont Economy (STRIVE) project and deliver advising, career exploration, and coaching for students enrolled in STEM related programs at CCV. The Program Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that individuals in the STRIVE program make consistent progression toward achieving their educational and career goals in STEM fields.The Program Coordinator works closely with STRIVE participants from admissions through program completion to provide guidance and support needed for success, while building partnerships with external entities to create pipelines for students with an emphasis on developing work-based learning opportunities. This position will be the primary point of contact at the College for recruitment, retention, advocacy, enrollment, direct support, advising, career services and career pathway support & coordination. The Program Coordinator develops and maintains strong working relationships with colleagues at CCV and regional STEM partners, including in K-12 and Career and Technical Education (CTE) centers.This is a 4-year grant-funded position.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work closely with the Associate Academic Dean of Science and Allied Health and the STRIVE Research Development Administrator to provide oversight of the program and effectively manage day-to-day operations.
  • Create program advising and networking tools to support STRIVE participants as they make informed decisions regarding their educational and career pathways in STEM related fields.
  • Work with Coordinators of Teaching and Learning (CTL), Coordinators of Student Advising (CSA), faculty, and STRIVE staff to identify barriers to learning and completion of STEM programs and develop interventions to encourage persistence.
  • Organize, coordinate, and participate in various trainings, courses, activities, and/or events associated with the STRIVE program.
  • Serve as the lead resource for STRIVE participants and prospective students.
  • Provide college and career advising support services at pre-enrollment, throughout program participation, and through the transition into further education or employment for STRIVE affiliated participants.
  • Help participants, particularly those who have been historically underrepresented in STEM fields, acclimate to the policies, expectations, and culture of higher education through career coaching.
  • Assist participants with exploration of STEM career pathways that align with the workforce needs of the jurisdiction and refer students to financial aid, career counseling, and learning centers as appropriate.
  • In collaboration with CSAs, help STRIVE participants select STEM programs, courses, and schedules; develop education plans and track their progress toward credential/degree completion and successfully prepare for job searches or other next steps.
  • Meet with STRIVE participants at key decision points in their academic pathway and maintain consistent interaction via face-to-face, phone, text, and email communications.
  • Provide real-time interventions and use proactive advising tools to support retention.
  • Assist in the recruitment of STRIVE participants, including first generation, multilingual, and low- income students that may already be engaged in College-sponsored courses or activities.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with STRIVE partners at other institutions, including Work-Based Learning Coordinators at Career and Technical Education (CTE) centers.
  • Work collaboratively across departments and institutions to leverage available tools, resources, and systems to fill support gaps for students.
  • Participate in STRIVE strategic planning sessions.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES
  • Previous grant experience required
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and demonstrated experience cultivating partnerships with external partners
  • Ability to design, implement, and evaluate program objectives and deliverables
  • Exceptional writing and presentation skills
  • Strong logical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient skill with MS Office, Excel, and PowerPoint. Must be computer proficient, able to compose spreadsheets, and work with different databases
SUPERVISION RECEIVEDGeneral supervision and direction are received from the Associate Academic Dean of Science and Allied Health.SUPERVISION EXERCISEDNone.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in an appropriate discipline plus three to five years professional experience in education, student services, or a related professional field or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Master's degree preferred. Previous work experience in a higher education setting highly desirable.LOCATION This position is based in Vermont and with the option to be partially remote. The incumbent must report to a CCV center at least two days per week. Some travel to other CCV centers may be required.Typically, this position is scheduled for 40 hours weekly. The budgeted wage for this position is $57,250 annually.Physical Requirements: Duties performed cause slight fatigue of eyes, fingers, or other faculties as a result of repetitive motion and/or long periods of standing or sitting. Duties require little physical effort in work with light to moderate (up to 25lbs) easy-to-handle materials. Duties will occasionally require the climbing of ladders.Working Conditions: Job is performed in a general office or comparable working area with many and frequent distractions such as noise and interruptions.
