Job DescriptionJob TitlePosition Title: Program Associate I - Family EngagementLocation: Office of Enrollment, Family and Community Engagement (16164 Asbury Park, Detroit, MI 48235)Salary: $72,862 - $95,304Reports to: Assistant Director of Transformative EngagementBargaining Unit: OSASBenefits Eligible: YesTelecommuting Eligibility: Eligible for telecommuting up to %Position SummaryIn accordance with the Agreement between the Organization of School Administrators and supervisors and the Detroit Public School Community District the following vacancy is announced:As a member of the DPSCD's Office of Enrollment, Family and Community Engagement, the Program Associate for Family Engagement is responsible for working collaboratively with other Program Associates to coordinate, scale, and manage the Family Advocacy, Intervention, and Restoration Office (F.A.I.R. Office). The purpose of the F.A.I.R. Office is to improve the relationship between DPSCD and parents with significant complaints and concerns regarding DPSCD schools through advocacy, intervention, and restorative practices. This position supports families through data management, program design and delivery, project management, stakeholder engagement, coaching, small and large group facilitation, and report writing. This central office role works as part of the Transformative Engagement team to empower families through critical reflection and dialogue.Minimum Qualifications
- Must possess and provide evidence of a bachelor's degree (or higher).
- Must be proficient in Microsoft applications – Outlook, Word, Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, and Forms.
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to engage parents, guardians, families, students, educators, administrators, central office staff, and community partners.
- Must have a demonstrated value of public education, family and community engagement, adult learning and development, justice, literacy, and advocacy.
- Must have experience with program management, project management, stakeholder management, learning design and facilitation, change management, and data management.
- Must have experience working with schools, and / or collaboratively across diverse groups in a multi-faceted organization.¿
- Must have experience in mediation restorative practices, conflict resolution, de-escalation, and/or dispute resolution.
- Must have strong written, verbal, and nonverbal communication skills, including the ability to write project plans, reports, and other content, and to facilitate professional conversations and meetings.
- Must demonstrate critical and creative problem-solving skills, including anticipating potential problems, identifying root causes, and presenting practical solutions using critical thinking, creativity, and resourcefulness.
- Must value continuous learning and possess a history of approaching work with a growth mindset.
- Must thrive in fast-paced, multifaceted, goal-oriented, community work and embrace the challenges, ambiguity, and adjustments related to that kind of role.
Essential Functions
- Coordinates and manages a program focused on advocacy, intervention, and restoration for DPSCD families.
- Works cross-functionally and across departments to lead and contribute to initiatives around the intersection of family engagement, restorative practices, and transformative learning.
- Coordinates and manages other projects related to enrollment and community engagement.
- Facilitates meetings, workshops, and coaching sessions to empower DPSCD parents to have more agency in resolving
- Assists with researching and developing best practices in dispute resolution, transformative learning, family engagement, de-escalation, and adult learning and facilitation.
- Collects, organizes, and synthesizes data and other information into PowerPoint presentations and reports.
- Implements and improves systems and processes for managing parent complaints through to resolution.
- Visits schools and attends school and district events to foster relationships with families and other stakeholders.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
