DEADLINE TO APPLY: 08/29/2025SALARY: $27,040.00Role and Responsibilities Under supervision, the Program Assistant will achieve success in the assistance of the facilitation and sustainability of a wide range of evidence-based services including, but not limited to, assisting with coaching and modeling employment, social, and independent living skills in both the classroom and applied settings (such as job sites, apartments, and in the community) to adults with autism. The Program Assistant will also be responsible for assisting with data collection and job coaching. The Program Assistant will maintain a flexible schedule that includes working on weekends. This position will report directly to the Program Director. NOTE: This leased position is funded through grants, legislative allocations, and the Endeavor Forward, Inc., nonprofit organization. If at any time funding is not available through those sources, Jackson County Board of County Commissioners is under no obligation to continue to offer this position. Essential Job Functions Assist Program Director, Instructor, and Transition Coach in implementing instruction one-on-one or in small groups in the areas of employment, social, and independent living skills. Under supervision, provide coaching one-on-one or in small groups in the areas of employment, social, and independent living skills. Assist with driving participants to job sites and other community events. Contribute to community and business partnerships to provide employment, volunteer experiences, internships, job shadowing, and interview practice. Support daily programming for students on a wide range of subjects related to household and personal management, community engagement, self-determination, and employment. Build support systems by helping students connect to the community and work opportunities. Exhibit an ability to self-direct tasks/activities, multitask, think critically, and problem-solve. Exhibit an ability to adapt to and accommodate for the varying learning needs and preferences of the students. Support and respect an individual's right to be self-determined in choices and actions within the requirements of the program. Complete daily assigned activities and documentation within identified time frame with adherence to organizational expectations. Adhere to established schedules, meetings, and program responsibilities. Observe metric-driven objectives and ongoing improvement plans. Participate in staff training, professional development, and program quality improvement. Always maintain student confidentiality according to established organizational policy. Interact with positivity to create an atmosphere of mutual respect, trust, and acceptance within the program and out in the local community. Be professional and respectful in communication with staff, students, family members, and the general community. Adhere to all policies and procedures. Demonstrate integrity, kindness, and excellence through work and interactions to promote a positive organizational culture. Be comfortable and confident in sharing and receiving ideas and feedback with the team. Be receptive to direction and supervisory feedback. Maintain a flexible work schedule to promptly address student needs. Work effectively in a fast-paced environment and remain flexible and open to change. Complete all other duties and responsibilities assigned by supervisor. Qualifications and Education Requirements Experience working with neurodiverse adults (autism, ADHD, ADD, anxiety disorders, etc.) in an educational or counseling setting is preferred. Ability to work weekends is required. Must have a valid driver's license prior to employment. This position also requires ability to drive NextStep vans to take participants to work and community settings. Must be able to pass a Level II background screening. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities General knowledge of County personnel policies, programs, and procedures Ability to compile data from varied sources and complete complex reports relating to student goals and progress Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing Ability to exercise tact and courtesy in dealing with the public Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by work assignments ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTSPhysical Requirements: Must be physically able to operate a variety of automated office machines including computers, typewriters, copiers, facsimile machines, etc. Must be physically able to operate a motor vehicle in a safe manner. Must be able to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for sedentary work. Light work usually requires walking or standing to a significant degree. Data Conception: Requires the ability to compare and/or judge the readily observable, functional, structural, or compositional characteristic (whether similar to or divergent from obvious standards) of documentation of policies and procedure. Interpersonal Communication: Requires the ability to speak and/or signal people to convey or exchange information. Includes receiving instructions, assignments and/or directions from superiors. Language Ability: Requires the ability to read a variety of correspondence, reports, forms, manuals, invoices, surveys, etc. Requires the ability to prepare correspondence, reports, forms, meeting minutes, news releases, purchase orders, etc., using prescribed formats and conforming to all rules of punctuation, grammar diction, and style. Requires the ability to speak to people with poise, voice control and confidence. Intelligence: Requires the ability to apply rational systems to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardized exists; to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral diagrammatic or schedule form. Verbal Aptitude: Requires the ability to record and deliver information, to explain procedures, to follow oral and written instructions. Must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently in standard English. Numerical Aptitude: Requires the ability to utilize mathematical formulas; to add and subtract totals; to multiply and divide; to determine percentages and decimals; to interpret graphs; and to compute discounts, interest, profit and loss, and ratios and proportions. Form/Spatial Aptitude: Requires the ability to inspect items for proper length, width and shape. Manual Dexterity: Requires the ability to handle a variety of items, office equipment, control knobs, switches, etc. Must have minimal levels of eye/hand/foot coordination. Color Discrimination: Requires the ability to differentiate between colors and shades of color. Interpersonal Temperament: Requires the ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructionsMust be adaptable to performing under stress and when confronted with persons acting under stress. Physical Communication: Requires the ability to talk and/or hear (talking: expressing ideas by means of spoken words; hearing - perceiving nature of sounds by ear).
