What You Will DoAs a Housing Program Assistant, you will perform a variety of technical case management duties. Applying your analytical skills, you will review financial accounts to assist with determination of initial and continued eligibility for federally/locally funded and regulated programs. These programs include, but are not limited to, tenant-based, Mainstream, Non-Elderly Disabled, Family Unification, Veterans' Affairs Supportive Housing (VASH) vouchers direct referrals from other agencies, and third-party case managers. Working under the guidance of the Program Manager and Housing Specialist II, you will maintain accurate case files and regularly interact with landlords, program participants, and the general public in a courteous and professional manner.
Essential DutiesUsing a trauma informed approach, perform basic case management, including identifying client needs, providing information, and scheduling appointments.
Perform in-depth analysis and review of financial accounts to assist in determining program eligibility and identifying potential fraud. Ensure adherence to program policies and guidelines.
Support investigations of alleged fraud within the public housing authority and assist with the termination process, as required.
Establish, organize, and maintain electronic records management/file systems. Maintain confidentiality of client information.
Research and compile information to create and prepare reports, procedures, handbooks, packets, forms and other materials, including regular voucher briefing presentations.
Calculate subsidy payments and repayment agreements.
Maintain in-depth knowledge of the housing choice voucher program. Respond to questions regarding regulations, policies, procedures, and practices as related to the program.
Ensure all work is complete and timely to support department goals. Evaluate feedback and procedures to improve efficiency.
