Production Technician - Weekend Shift
BWXT is currently seeking a Production Tech - Weekend Shift to join our growing team in Mount Vernon, Indiana!
Situated on a 100-acre site, our facility has 600,000 square feet of shop area and a 1,000-ton lift capacity from the shop to the river. The Mount Vernon facility is equipped with large CNC machine tools along with sophisticated welding and heat-treating equipment to produce components for naval nuclear reactors, which are used in submarines and aircraft carriers.
What you'll do:
- Follow procedures with a quality-driven perspective while maintaining confidentiality.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, sketches, and blueprints accurately.
- Assemble mechanical products and sub-assembly components according to engineering instructions.
- Clean and package products for shipment following strict guidelines.
- Perform dimensional measurements to verify proper fitment.
- Perform mechanical assemblies associated with critical tolerance components.
- Conduct buffing, polishing, cutting, and grinding operations as needed.
- Operate forklifts of various sizes, as well as perform rigging operations for crane movement of large components (30T 500T cranes).
- Work around heavy equipment, including rail car movers, semis, tractors with trailers and remote-control carts.
- Verify identity and physical characteristics of materials.
- Maintain necessary records related to operations.
Working Conditions:
- This position requires working twelve-hour shifts, either from 4 AM to 4 PM or 4 PM to 4 AM.
- This position is on weekend shift. The job will start with training on day shift and then transition to a 3-day weekend schedule (12-hour shifts), Friday through Sunday. The pay will be for forty hours, three days per week.
- May require working in various environmental conditions.
Qualifications:
- Must be a U.S. citizen with no dual citizenship.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Self-starter with the initiative to perform tasks.
- General mechanical aptitude or background.
- Ability to follow detailed engineering instructions.
- Proficient in reading engineering drawings and blueprints.
- Two years of experience in an assembly or manufacturing environment preferred.
- Two years of rigging experience preferred.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Forklift and Aerial Lift certifications.
- Capability to work at heights using aerial or scissor lifts.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. to standard table height.
- Vision must be correctable to 20/20.

Pay: $61,043.02 - $61,043.02
The base salary range for this position in Indiana (US-IN) at the start of employment is expected to be between $61,043.02 and $61,043.02 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,' unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement.
