We are searching a Production Shift Leader Engineer to join our Commercial Team, willing to develop their professional career in an international and innovative environment integrated in a multidisciplinary, competitive, and highly qualified team. This position provides technical service in the meat processing industry for Viscofan equipment. Including proper installation and training of equipment at customer sites. Additional tasks include ongoing technical support, troubleshooting, providing preventative maintenance and on-site equipment repair.
The Shift Leader at Viscofan Danville's Plant is responsible for overseeing daily operations during their shift, ensuring they are safe and efficient.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Supervision:
- Lead and manage shift personnel, including operators and technicians (30-40).
- Monitor and control production of Skinless and Fibrous processes, to ensure adherence to production schedules and quality standards.
- Coordinate shift handovers to ensure continuity and communication between shifts.
- Coordinate and balance the resources needed between the areas and departments (raw materials, equipment, manpower)
- Collab with different departments (Process, Maintenance, Quality, EHS, Purchasing, Planning) to manage the operations.
Safety and Compliance:
- Enforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental and food defense regulations (ISO 45001, ISO 14001, BRC).
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits.
- Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions.
- Manage Housekeeping in all the areas.
Process Optimization:
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
- Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues promptly.
- Collaborate with maintenance teams to ensure equipment reliability.
- Team Development:
- Provide training and mentorship to shift personnel.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback.
- Foster a positive and collaborative team environment.
- Reporting and Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of production data, incidents, and maintenance activities.
- Prepare shift reports and communicate key information to management.
- Ensure proper documentation of standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Emergency Response:
- Lead emergency response efforts during incidents.
- Coordinate with emergency services and internal response teams.
Qualifications:
- Education: Engineering degree in Chemical, Mechanical or Industrial is required.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a process manufacturing environment, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role is required. Experience in rayon manufacturing is desired.
Skills:
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Knowledge and/or experience in Lean Manufacturing methodologies.
- Knowledge and/or experience in TPM.
- Proficiency in using process control systems and software.
- Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PPT, Acces, Power BI, MS Office 365.

- Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations.
- Knowledge and experience on complex industrial process installations (piping and instrumentation).

Working Conditions:
- This position requires working in a chemical manufacturing environment, which may involve exposure to hazardous materials.
- Shift work, including nights, weekends, and holidays, is required.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn as needed.
