Position Overview:
The Production Planning Manager will direct all production planning activities for the manufacturing operations. This individual will be involved with the daily activities of production, inventory, warehousing and distribution for the finished products produced in the plant. The ideal candidate for this position must be an advocate for production planning best practices and standardization.
Duties And Responsibilities:
Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, the Production Planning Manager's responsibilities would include, but not be limited to, the following:
Assist in developing Master Schedule requirements from demand forecast, plant capacity, and historical dataInteract with production and sales personnel to update and advise of progress and new developmentsManage volume and manufacturing location changes as needed to meet customer requirementsMonitor inventories of raw material, work in process, and finished goods in an effort to minimize costs and achieve plant inventory goalsOversee development and maintenance of tools that enhance production planning capabilityResponsible for audits for compliance in department standards and practicesAssure inside sales and plants utilize the ‘system' through on site auditing and clear tracking metricsMaintain accurate needs attention inventory and implement measures for improvementDrive continuous improvement through training and strategic planningPerform other job-related duties as required or assignedQualifications:
In addition to the specific responsibilities listed above, the ideal candidate will possess the following:
Bachelor's degree in business, logistics, operations research, or related area5+ years of experience in production planning, logistics and materials handling3+ years in a manufacturing environmentApproximately 10% travelMust be available to work various shifts if needed and be able to work nights, weekends, and overtime to cover absences or provide additional supportPreferred Requirements:
Packaging industry experienceCertificates in APICS, CPSM, Six Sigma, and Lean ManufacturingKnowledge of AS400Capability and flexibility of managing changing business needs and requirementsProven record of applied critical thinking in a variety of situationsTaking calculated initiative to drive improvementsEffective oral and written communicationsDemonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as working independently and self-directedProcess oriented with a continuous improvement mindsetAbility to develop processes, train end users, and implement projects to completionProficiency in MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook requiredPhysical Requirements:
