Production Planner - Maine Staffing : Job Details

Elmet Technologies is seeking a Production Planner to be based in Lewiston, Maine. Requirements of the Production Planner include a bachelor's degree in business, materials management, supply chain, industrial engineering, technical or equivalent in a related discipline preferred. Five or more years' experience in production planning/scheduling, master scheduling, or supply chain management is preferred. Strong working knowledge of ERP systems is required, with experience in using the system as part of the job function, including data extraction and maintenance of data integrity in the system. Knowledge of manufacturing principles and methodologies including lean and theory of constraints is also required. Expert level MS Excel skills with strong data access/retrieval skills and experience in data analysis, data manipulation are necessary. Strong analytical capabilities are needed. APICS certification or similar is preferred. Ability to commute to Lewiston on Monday through Friday 7am-4pm, with flexibility.

Responsibilities of the Production Planner Include:

• Creating and maintaining master production schedules for finished goods for make to stock and make to order products, utilizing computerized software MRP/ERP systems.
• Analyzing plant capacity data and performing mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing processes, tools, and human resource requirements. Presenting recommendations for approval.
• Making decisions on daily production schedules based on engineering plans, production specifications, factory capacity, availability of material and labor loading requirements.
• Creating, executing, and managing production work orders in support of material requirements plan.
• Training production associates on performing inventory transactions, labor reporting, and material management process improvements.
• Independently identifying and performing schedule risk assessments and mitigation planning in addition to facilitating the resolution of labor and material shortages, backlogs, and other existing and potential schedule interruptions.
• Developing recovery plans and adjusting schedules according to production progress, change orders, and other delaying conditions.
• Responsible for ERP data integrity by maintaining MRP, product masters, on-hand inventory balances, bill of materials, routings.
• Working with finance and operations on material and labor cost deviations.
