Overview: The Production Manager for Biscoff packaging will oversee operations on five packaging lines running 24/7. This role ensures the safety of employees, maintains product quality, and achieves business targets efficiently. Key Responsibilities:
- Quality and Safety: Ensure packaging facilities, raw ingredients, and finished products meet quality and safety standards.
- Supervision: Manage and coach four supervisors, each overseeing 20+ associates per shift.
- Equipment Management: Ensure all processing equipment and machines in the packaging area are functional.
- Materials and Supplies: Maintain a positive flow of materials and supplies.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement.
- Lead daily KPI management.
- Serve as a backup for the Quality Manager for FSMA and FDA compliance.
- Team Contribution:
- Contribute to overall plant performance as a member of the leadership team.
- Participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours and weekend support.
- Occasionally travel domestically and internationally.
Organization and Supervision of the Production Environment, including its Quality, Condition, and Cleanliness
- Responsible for achieving the production KPIs (quality, safety, volume, efficiency, hygiene)
- Implement work instructions
- Propose and implement improvement actions proactively (continuous improvement)
- Create a culture of continued improvement for product quality and safety (safety first, quality always)
- Ensure the targeted quality of the end products
Act as a Backup for QA/QC
- Ensure compliance with FSMA/FDA regulation
- Ensure compliance with IFS standards
- Perform traceability exercises
Responsible for the training and performance of the production workers
- Cultivate a motivating and supportive culture
- Provide training tools and documentation
- Plan training and learning events in partnership with Human Resources. Provide feedback on the quality and effectiveness of these programs.
- Actively influence the retention of personnel and maintain compliance with plant procedures.
- Take lead role in the selection of new team members (supervisors, line leads, and production workers)
- Oversee and provide guidance for the performance-management activities of your production team (half-year reviews, annual reviews, disciplinary actions, terminations)
- Setting up and execution of a yearly action plan and provide guidance in executing it.
Education (degree):
- Master's degree with specialization in food technology, chemistry, engineering, supply chain, or business
- Bachelor's degree in same domains with relevant experience is acceptable
Specific Knowledge:
- FSMA/FDA requirements
- GFSI-certification requirements
- Basics of mechanical/electrical engineering and utilities
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in a production management role (food industry or related)
- Experience with SAP (production, planning) is a plus
- Experience with BRC-GS is a plus
Language:
- English proficiency required, both verbal and written
- Spanish fluency is helpful but not required
