Production Manager
This position is responsible for managing the daily operations of the Production Department, ensuring the plant meets safety, quality, and production goals in compliance with all legal and food safety standards.
Essential Functions
- Manage and direct activities of the production department, ensuring safety, quality, and throughput standards are met.
- Collaborate with planning to create and adjust production schedules.
- Maintain effective relationships with team members to promote safety, engagement, and productivity.
- Provide guidance to supervisors on coaching, employment decisions, and conflict resolution. Oversee hiring, training, and performance reviews.
- Coordinate with Maintenance to plan preventative maintenance.
- Analyze and report on production metrics.
- Assist in developing the department's budget and forecasts.
- Implement measures to improve production methods and equipment performance.
- Justify capital equipment upgrades to enhance quality and efficiency.
- Suggest operational improvements to increase departmental efficiency.
- Coordinate with other departments to meet customer deadlines.
- Promote a safety culture aligned with Niagara's standards.
- Ensure compliance with safety programs, GMPs, and Food Safety Standards.
- Manage raw material inventories and address supplier quality issues.
- Partner with Quality to resolve issues with non-conforming products and materials.
- Maintain regular attendance as an essential function.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- 6+ years in manufacturing or related field
- 6+ years in a managerial role
- 4+ years managing teams/projects
Understanding of production processes and controls is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 10+ years in manufacturing or related field
- 10+ years in a managerial role
- 6+ years managing teams/projects
Experience may include a combination of work and education.
