Production Manager: RHI-Magnesita, East Canton, OH
Salary: Starting range $80K+ and based on experience
Position Summary: Production Manager is the primary resource for all plant functions in area of responsibility. Manages both supervisors and hourly employees; and interacts with support personnel to ensure all established key metrics are achieved. Responsible for ensuring all company policy and procedures are followed, driving continuous improvement initiatives, enforcing safety policies and procedures, and ensuring that quality is maintained to RHI-Magnesita and customer standards.
Essential Functions:
- Direct the cost-efficient manufacturing of products to meet quality standards through material preparation, production, finished goods, shipping, maintenance, QA, office support, and delegation to Management Team members and their departments
- Manage effective production scheduling through delegation and review
- Communicate plant performance to upper management.
- Gauge and manage plant performance by reviewing daily QAD reports, including individual cost center's performance, scrap reports, manpower overtime, raw material consumption, and shipping deliveries
- Participate in plant safety and implementation of safety regulations, OSHA regulations
- Coordinate with site QA, corporate management, and sales regarding customer needs and complaints
- Review and prioritize maintenance and PM needs with Maintenance Manager
- Coach and develop employee performance through training, reviews, and discipline
- Maintain compliance with established policies and procedures
- Assist in implementing LEAN concepts and continuous improvement activities
- Identify and develop continuous improvements in the process, equipment, manpower, and raw materials
- Management of hourly employees and supervisor(s)
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Other Attributes:
- Ten or more years of experience in manufacturing; at least four years of upper-level supervision
- In-depth knowledge of manufacturing equipment and methods, production planning, and standard cost and financial controls
- Effective communicator with direct employees, supporting staff and upper management.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills; ability to prioritize tasks.
- Strong computer skills, experience with Microsoft Office is a plus.
Preferences:
- Experience with Business Management software (QAD, MRP, SAP)
- Previous experience with refractories and/or ceramics a plus.
Work Requirements:
