Chemours is seeking a Production First Line Supervisor to join our growing Operations team! This position will report directly to the Operations Manager at our Chambers Works Plant located in Deepwater, NJ .The primary responsibility of this role is to execute the asset schedule (production and maintenance execution) for the current week. To accomplish this, this role covers a broad range of responsibilities including coaching and supporting operators, daily production support, resolutionof process issues, and troubleshooting equipment . The Production Supervisor will create daily targets for the operators to complete based on the weekly production schedule given by the Production Leader. This role will also help drive improvements in process uptime and building teameffectiveness to meet business objectives as outlined by the Operations Manager. These activities must be managed, daily, in a safe and environmentally sound manner.This position works closely with the Production Leader, Technical (MT), Quality, and Maintenance teams to ensure production meets desired quantities and quality and that equipment maintenance is performed in the desired maintenance window.In addition, this position manages processsafety and personnel performance for the operators who are assigned to them. It requires coordination of delivery against standards established by PSM (Process Safety Management), businessexpectations, and daily continuous improvement efforts led through analysis of metrics.The person in this position must be able toprovide leadership and development of non-exempt team members, and execution of daily production and maintenance activities for the operation's assets.***The shift for this position is a 12-hour rotating shift including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed - A standard shift schedule for this position would be 6:00 AM ET to 6:00 PM ET***The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Monitor progress through the day against targets, assist with troubleshooting of issues in the plant, and escalate any adjustments to schedule as necessary for that day for team's priorities realignment.
  • Breakdown the finalized weekly schedule into daily and shift targets.
  • Manage personnel consistent with policies in a union environment - manage all aspects of personnel, including training, timekeeping, shift assignments, accountability.
  • Schedules in unit and site (out of area) training for operators. Manage any Fit for Duty issues.
  • Ensures adequate operator review of operating procedures and that authorized operating procedures, inspection forms, etc, are readily available for the operations team.
  • Drives and completes Safety/Process procedure knowledge checks to ensure active coaching and partnership on working to standards (ensure execution per safety procedures/protocol)
  • Demonstrated ability to get results, meet commitments, troubleshoot and solve problems that may arise as it pertains tothe business's operations.
  • Support the organization's improvement efforts and lead initiatives when applicable.
  • Work hour flexibility to be the first call for a 24/7 operation.
  • Escalates changes to the weekly schedule to Production Leader based on asset capability for updates to next week's schedule (production, maintenance, service to ops) and communicates priority of maintenance work to support building efficiency and operability to Production Leader.
  • Works closely with site Maintenance for coordination of maintenance work execution.
The following is required for this role:
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) from an accredited institution.
  • 2+ years of leadership experience in an industrial or production-related role and the ability to motivate and train employees.
  • Must have thorough reasoning skills and the ability to select and analyze appropriate data to allow decision making.
  • Knowledge of chemical operations and safety.
  • Knowledge of computer use such as Microsoft office and other special programs as needed.
  • Ability to work rotating 12 hour day shift that consists of alternating between a 36 hour week and 48 hour week.
The following is preferred for this role:
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Training in vocational schools, related on-the-job experience, or an associate degree.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt/ Lean certification.
  • Process Safety Management in High Hazard Process/Low Hazard Operations.
  • Leadership Development.
