Position Description:

Opportune LP is seeking a Production Accountant to join our dynamic team of energy professionals. This individual will support oil and gas clients by maintaining accurate production data, managing allocations, and ensuring regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate has a solid foundation in upstream production operations and experience with industry-standard software tools. You will play a key role in the monthly production-to-revenue lifecycle by validating volumes, preparing client deliverables, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, and collaborating closely with regulatory, engineering, and revenue teams.

• Accurately enter and validate oil, gas, and water production volumes from multiple data sources
• Review daily production reports and resolve volume discrepancies or anomalies with field personnel.
• Execute monthly production allocations and reconcile volumes to purchaser statements.
• Perform variance analysis and troubleshoot allocation or measurement issues across wells, pads, and facilities.
• Prepare and distribute monthly production reports for internal stakeholders and client revenue teams.
• File and validate all required state and federal production reports (e.g., ONRR, RRC, OCC, COGCC, NDIC, etc.).
• Ensure compliance with all regulatory reporting requirements and deadlines and respond to inquiries from government agencies as needed.
• Maintain accurate system setups reflecting field configuration changes (e.g., facility networks, new well additions).
• Support client operations and engineering teams by providing production data, custom reports, and historical trend analysis.
• Coordinate closely with revenue accountants to ensure alignment of volumes and pricing for revenue recognition.
• Participate in client onboarding, system implementations, and special projects (e.g., acquisition integrations, audit support).
• Document workflows and maintain best practices for data quality, reporting consistency, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications:

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Energy Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of oil and gas production accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of oil and gas measurement, allocations, and regulatory requirements.
• Hands-on experience with Merrick P2 (ProCount, Carte, PetroRegs), Quorum, BOLO, and/or EnergyLink is highly preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formulas, charts); SQL or Power BI experience is a plus.
• Exceptional analytical and organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to collaborate across departments and with external clients.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a client-focused, fast-paced environment.
• Must be a self-starter with a high level of initiative and a team-first attitude.
