SUMMARY

The role of the Product Manager at BUNN is one that provides voice of customer leadership and insights to our New Product Development teams. This is a manager level position responsible for the development, implementation, and on-going management of product strategies for both current and new products. The objective is to manage assigned product categories throughout the lifecycle process, including stages of pre-planning, product briefing, pricing and market placement, presenting to key stakeholders, and working cross-functionally to ensure that products are on time to the development calendar, while delivering an acceptable return on investment. This position requires engagement with all levels of customer employees and BUNN staff. BUNN is looking for a team player with an entrepreneurial spirit who is willing to jump in and help others as part of a dynamic and high-performing team. This position is located in Springfield, Illinois.

Strategic Planning

  • Participation in strategic planning for the global product roadmap and financial growth plan for assigned product categories.
  • Independently gather and synthesize data sources & research and translate those insights to customer value, improve customer experience, and shape the product roadmap.
  • Keep a pulse on the market for new macro and consumer trends, product innovations, competitors, and emerging technologies to best manage current and new products.
  • Assist in continuous improvement of the BUNN product management process.

Product Management

  • Voice of customer representation on NPD Core Teams.
  • Liaison between sales, customers, engineering, and digital solutions teams.
  • Develop technical understanding and enhanced sensory skills for assigned products to become a category subject matter expert.
  • Phase Leadership: Leader for Ideation Phase deliverables and co-leader with Engineering NPD Manager for Launch Phase deliverables.
  • Responsible for translating Voice of Customer insights to value proposition, customer profitability, and potential annual sales volumes as part of early development work.
  • Lead development of Product Requirements Document, Competitor Analysis, and Business Case Analysis for assigned products.
  • Participate in design reviews, FMEAs, and Core Team meetings.
  • Assist with product testing and recipe development for assigned product categories.
  • Lead development of all sales & marketing collaterals and the Sales Playbook to have them available prior to the start of production.
  • Work with Marketing Communications Team to create and maintain sales tools such as presentations, spec sheets, and brochures.
  • Lead New Product Introduction meetings with cross-functional team members to ensure all sales, marketing, and service deliverables are available at product launch.
  • Conduct new product training sessions for cross-functional teams to ensure successful launch of products.
  • Analyze product portfolio and provide recommendations for product rationalization and manage end lifecycle activities.
  • Monitor and communicate key equipment changes to sales and customers regarding quality, value improvements, or supplier changes that can impact the product.
  • Performance is measured against delivery of new products to the requirements document, within budget, and to the launch date identified during Feasibility Phase transition.
  • Work trade shows and attend industry events.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • The ideal candidate will be savvy in digital user experience, who monitors new technologies, and at the same time can define how the technology can enhance customer experience with our products.
  • Experience with coffee and tea brewers, coffee grinders, bean to cup, espresso, cold beverages, or water technologies is a plus.
  • The successful candidate will be an attentive listener with strong spoken and written communication skills who thrives working in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment.
  • Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and delivering to the timeline.
  • The role requires public speaking and a high comfort level of conducting presentations to leadership and cross-functional teams, customers, and at industry conferences and seminars.
  • 3-5 years previous product management experience a plus, but relevant marketing or sales experience could offset.
  • Four-year college degree in Marketing, Business, or Sales (significant work experience could offset).
  • A strong command of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word is required.
  • Ability to travel and participate in Industry Trade Shows.
