Product Owner – POS Systems

Optomi, in partnership with a leading retail technology organization, is seeking a Product Owner with deep expertise in Point of Sale (POS) and Self-Checkout systems. This role will serve as the bridge between business needs and technical teams, ensuring that product initiatives align with long-term strategy while delivering value quickly and efficiently.

Responsibilities:

• Serve as the Product Owner for critical POS and self-checkout initiatives
• Own and manage the product backlog, prioritizing features based on business value and technical feasibility
• Write clear, detailed user stories and acceptance criteria for development teams
• Collaborate cross-functionally with engineers, architects, business analysts, and QA teams
• Drive both short-term MVP execution and long-term technical product strategy
• Act as the subject matter expert on POS systems, supporting product decisions and roadmap direction
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and help foster a culture of continuous improvement

Must Haves:

• Strong experience with POS and Self-Checkout systems (SME-level knowledge)
• Proven success in a Product Owner role, ideally within a retail or enterprise tech environment
• Ability to translate complex business needs into actionable technical requirements
• Familiarity with microservices architecture and cloud-first environments
• Skilled in Agile methodologies; SAFe certification is a plus
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
