Job Title: Product Lead or Manager (D.O.E.)

Department: Engineering

Reports To: CEO or CFO (TBD)

FLSA Status: Exempt

Job Summary:

Vanteon is seeking to add either a Product Manager or a Product Lead; the specific position will depend on the candidate's experience and ability to come up to speed. This role will assist in formally separating Vanteon's internal research and development (IRAD) efforts from production and product support. Additional responsibilities will be formalized as this role develops.

Duties/Responsibilities:

The following is a list of expected duties to be involved in this position, this is not fully inclusive, and management may assign other duties:

  • Product Build and Cost Management:
    • Oversee and manage all product builds, working with contract manufacturers (CMs) and internal teams.
    • Track all associated time, labor, and material costs to ensure efficient and cost-effective manufacturing.
    • Maintain detailed records of CM quotes, component pricing, procurement requests, production timelines, labor, and other items as necessary.
  • Inventory Management:
    • Maintain a real-time inventory tracking system including but not limited to units on hand, units sold, and units held for engineering.
    • Ensure accurate documentation and reporting of product availability for internal and external needs.
    • Coordinate with sales and engineering teams to balance inventory levels for commercial sales and R&D needs.
    • Ensure the appropriate segregation of engineering/development units from those held in inventory.
  • Product Release Coordination:
    • Ensure all ancillary materials (website content, data sheets, product manuals, marketing collateral, etc.) are updated with each new product release or revision.
    • Work with marketing and sales teams to ensure accurate representation of product capabilities and features.
    • Coordinate with engineering teams to document and distribute product updates.
    • Develop and hold internal and external training sessions about features and updates for major release, including sessions designed for online distribution.
  • Quality Assurance & Failure Management:
    • Establish and enforce quality assurance for both in-house and CM processes.
    • Develop and monitor product performance metrics and implement process improvements to enhance reliability.
    • Develop and/or facilitate the development of production tests and regression tests (for hardware and software), including automated testing of radios.
    • Track and follow up on all external product failures, working with customers and internal teams to diagnose issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination:
    • Act as a liaison between manufacturing, engineering, sales, and customer support to ensure smooth product operations.
    • Work closely with leadership to align product strategy with overall business goals.
    • Provide regular reports on manufacturing efficiency, inventory levels, and product quality metrics.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

You may be responsible for indirect oversight of those technical resources assigned to associated product delivery tasks.

Required Skills & Knowledge:
  • Strong understanding of electronics manufacturing and quality assurance processes.
  • Understanding of software-defined radios, including key quality assurance and failure points.
  • Experience (or ability to learn) managing production schedules, inventory tracking, and product documentation.
  • Ability to analyze product performance, track failures, and implement improvements.
  • Ability to take initiative in defining and improving product-related processes.
  • Excellent organizational skills with a detail-oriented and process-driven approach.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate across teams and with external partners.
  • Production test development experience.
  • Automated test scripting and/or LabVIEW use is a plus
Education and Experience:
  • Associate's degree or better in Electrical or Computer Engineering Tech, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in hardware engineering, test engineering, or product management.
Other Requirements
  • The position is expected to work on-site full-time, with some travel expected (i.e., CM visits, client meetings, trade shows, etc.).
  • Although minimal, some circumstances may require a weekly commitment above 40 hours or hours outside of regular business hours.
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Be able to perform low to moderately strenuous physical activities requiring standing, walking, and reaching.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Compensation Range

Although a candidate's specific compensation will depend highly on their specific skills and experience, the anticipated compensation range for this position is $75,000 to $99,000 annually, plus a competitive benefit package. This role includes the potential opportunity for performance or objective-based bonuses.
