Position Summary At POLYWOOD, we're not just crafting sustainable outdoor furniture-we're building a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement. As a CNC Programmer/Engineer, you'll play a critical role in driving the productivity and efficiency of our operations by developing, maintaining, and optimizing CNC programs and production documentation. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on environment and is passionate about precision, problem-solving, and seeing ideas come to life on the production floor. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in CAD/CAM software, including SolidWorks and Mastercam, to design and modify 3D models, generate reliable CNC programs, and collaborate with both engineering and production teams to ensure seamless implementation. You'll be empowered to trial-run and troubleshoot new programs directly on the CNC equipment, ensuring every product meets our high standards of quality and craftsmanship. Responsibilities:
  • Use CAD to create and modify 3D models of components ( i.e. parts and assemblies)
  • Draft CAM programs from the 3D models to produce products
    • Write, store, and modify original and/or existing CNC programs utilizing Mastercam software
    • Trial run products on the CNC to ensure that programs and machinery will function properly and produce items that meet specifications
  • Provide consistent documentation and prints for production
  • Coordinate with Production to implement Engineering Change Requests to enhance production efficiencies and reduce defects
  • Professionally communicate and work with others in both the Engineering and Production teams to troubleshoot CNC programming
  • Work with Production to inform, educate, and assist with all projects
Requirements:
  • CNC setup experience
  • 3-5 years of experience with Mastercam or similar CAM software
  • 3-5 years of experience using Solidworks or similar CAD software
  • Ability to read a 2D layout but be able to visualize it in 3D to understand potential CNC tool collision points
  • Blueprint creating/reading including dimensioning & tolerances
  • Advanced math skills, and understanding and ability to effectively use measuring devices
  • Ability to interpret engineering documentation and write appropriate machine-level instructions, including revisions to existing programs with minimum supervision
  • Ability to professionally communicate and work with others in both the Engineering and Production teams
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple priorities. Must be self-motivated and positive.
Bonus points if:
  • Fanuc controlled CNC operating experience
