Job DetailsJob Location Independent Can Co Belcamp - Belcamp, MD Salary Range $65000.00 - $84900.00 Hourly Job Shift 1st DescriptionSUMMARY: Product Engineer I is responsible for the design of new and existing products. The individual must consider manufacturing capabilities, available machinery, material characteristics, quality programs, customer specifications, and can make standards throughout the process. The Product Engineer will work closely with Product Planning to ensure accurate BOMs and work centers. Must be the site leader in living and driving the Company Core Values and High-Performance Work Culture. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support Production and Sales departments with technical drawings, standardized procedures, and quote estimates
- Prepares product and tool drawings using AutoCAD and Inventor; from concepts provided by multiple information sources
- Provides engineering support by troubleshooting problems and effecting timely solutions to maintain the continuity of product flow
- Conference with Lithography (metal printing) department to determine technical capabilities and provide flat-pattern layouts
- Assists with other departments assigned by the Engineering Manager to address and resolve engineering related issues
- Assists in maintaining Engineering file systems and databases by updating and revising accurate and error-free information. This includes but is not limited to drawing files, drawing databases, ECR, and packaging files
- Design and provide packaging solutions through the use of packaging software
- Monitor and provide day-to-day support to the vision inspection systems throughout the plant
- Perform cut edge calculations, product construction, and provide steel specifications to support product quoting activities
- Verify and input data as required for the accurate completion of BOMs and routing in an ERP system
- Work closely with the Pre-Press Department to provide accurate and useable layouts for metal printing, coating, and slitting
- Follows Company personnel and product safety requirements including standards such as those from SQF and internal GMPs
- Independently travel domestically and internationally
- All other duties as assigned

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: B.S. Degree in an Engineering discipline from an ABET accredited College and 1-3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment; including co-op and internship experience. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and other employees. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
