Purpose: Oversee the process for procurement activities for construction projects. Plan, direct and coordinate; procurement forecasting, customer service and/or planning services. Manage procurement systems while supervising the day-to-day activities of procurement staff. Must have an engineering degree and have knowledge in MEP. This is a new position for our growing organization.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and coordinate activities of procurement personnel engaged in the procurement of construction materials for all project sites to optimize the acquisition of goods and services aligned w/business goals.
- Responsible for the procurement of construction materials/services.
- Hiring, training and supervising procurement staff.
- Work w/Vice President to update policies and procedures for procurement activities and ensure all department procedures, policies, and work rules are followed.
- Identify potential sources of supplies, evaluate proposals and negotiate contracts to secure favorable terms.
- Securing advantageous agreements w/suppliers, subcontractors, focusing on cost savings, quality, risk mitigation and timely delivery of materials and/or services.
- Overseeing the entire procurement process from requisition to payment…ensuring compliance w/regulations and company policies.
- Tracking material costs, identifying areas for improvement and implementing strategies to reduce costs.
- Keeping abreast of industry developments, new technologies and potential cost-saving opportunities.
- Analyze all aspects of procurement to determine the most cost-effective and efficient means of providing the required materials for our job sites.
- Follow up to ensure timely delivery of purchase order materials required by engineering and/or other construction departments.
- Resolve vendor or contractor grievances along w/claims against suppliers.
- Work w/Logistics Manager to closely analyze the financial impact of proposed logistics changes, such as routing, shipping modes, product volumes and mixes, and carriers.
- Collaborate with other departments to integrate procurement with business systems and processes.
- Work w/Logistics Manager to ensure carrier compliance with company policies and procedures for product transit and delivery.
- Perform additional assignments per Vice President's direction.

- Proficiency in Procurement Software and Tools: Familiarity with relevant systems and technologies is necessary for managing the procurement process effectively.
- Systems/Software: Extensive experience in ERP systems, Microsoft software, Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Muti-Tasking: Ability to multitask and assist all Buyers w/buyout packages.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college/university.
- Minimum eight-ten (8-10) years of material/equipment procurement experience.
- Supervisory/management experience of at minimum 8-10 years.
- Must have an engineering degree and have knowledge in MEP.
