Amphenol Fiber Optic Products (“AFOP”) has provided expertise and solutions in fiber optic interconnect applications for over 40 years. Servicing the Wireless, IT/Datacom, Data Center and Medical markets. AFOP is a full-service fiber optic company specializing in the fabrication and manufacture of fiber optic connectivity products and solutions. AFOP is a US$150M P&L unit that employs over 500 worldwide. The company's headquarters is based in Downers Grove, IL with manufacturing locations in Nogales, Mexico – Shenzhen, China – Long An, Vietnam.

AFOP is in search of a Procurement Manager to lead strategic sourcing initiatives across new product introductions, supplier management, and cost optimization. They will coordinate with cross-functional teams, managing key U.S. suppliers, negotiating contracts, and driving cost reduction through value engineering and “Should Cost” analysis. The position also supports major indirect procurement initiatives and supports global purchasing processes while guiding local teams.

Responsibilities

New Product Introduction (NPI):

  • Serve as the primary liaison between Engineering, Project Management, and plant-level Purchasing teams.
  • Lead sourcing efforts for new technologies and products requiring supplier capability development.

Supplier Management

  • Oversee major U.S.-based suppliers, including pricing negotiations, contract management, performance tracking, and issue escalation.

Project Management:

  • Lead cost reduction initiatives through supplier negotiations and value engineering.
  • Manage risk mitigation efforts such as dual sourcing and supply chain diversification.

Cost Management & Analysis:

  • Develop “Should Cost” models to support pricing negotiations and strategic sourcing decisions.
  • Monitor global raw material and commodity price trends affecting COGS.
  • Act as the global commodity manager to ensure the company procures at the most competitive global rates.

Indirect Spend & Processes:

  • Design and implement global procurement policies, processes, and best practices.
  • Lead high-value indirect procurement efforts, including capital equipment (CAPEX) from Western suppliers and Strategic service agreements.

Cross-functional Support:

  • Provide strategic guidance and mentorship to local/site-level purchasing personnel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in a global manufacturing company. Fiber cable experience preferred
  • Professional certifications (e.g., CPSM, CSCP, PMP) are a plus
  • Occasional travel required
