Come grow with us and work as a team to build the new Palmetto Gourmet Foods. Job Summary Our fast growing, production company is seeking a Buyer. This position will provide the successful candidate the opportunity to apply their knowledge, learn new skills and work as a member of a dynamic team in a clean and safe environment. The ideal candidate for this role will have 5 plus years' experience in the manufacturing sector, pay strong attention to detail and be committed to workplace safety. Additionally, the candidate for this position will be motivated to grow with Palmetto Gourmet Foods building a career for years to come. Flexibility with scheduled workdays and shift preferences is required. Senior Plant Buyer Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate and maintain accuracy of MRP system (Excel formula-based format)
  • Generate and maintain PO's in ERP system (Business Central 365)
  • Component SKU creation and management in ERP / MRP systems
  • Inventory evaluation and reconciliation in ERP system (Business Central 365)
  • Strong multi-department coordination and communication skills
  • Sales forecasting analyzation
  • Expedition and risk assessment of material ordering and delivery impacts to meet production demand and customer requirements
  • Supports in Project management; new product development by attending meetings (internal and external), providing supply options, and on-time deliverables
  • SOP creation, implementation and member adherence skills
  • Assist the Procurement Manager in negotiating pricing, agreements, etc.
  • Identify cost reduction opportunities by analyzing usage, specifications and various supply options
  • Recommend buying strategies and process improvements to the Procurement Manager
  • Education and Experience
  • A Bachelor's degree is required, preferably in Business or supply chain management
  • 3 - 5 years related experience, preferably in a food or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge and experience using ERP systems (Business Central, SAP, Oracle, etc.)
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications
  • In depth knowledge of source-to-pay process
  • Experience sourcing raw and packaging material that meet specific quality standards. Including (cups, lids, films, trays, flour, seasoning, vegetable oils) ext.
  • Ability to negotiate prices, agreements, etc. (Vendor / Supplier Strengthening skills)
  • Experience working in high volume / low margin facilities
  • Familiar with international logistics, freight forwarders, duties, etc.
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking may be required.
  • Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds.
  • Bending, stopping, carrying up to 20 pounds may be required.
