About the PositionThe Research Engineer will focus on developing an in-depth understanding of the interactions between raw materials and manufacturing processes. The research engineering will also be responsible for communicating these concepts throughout the R&D, QA and Manufacturing Teams.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities- Understand and Optimize Manufacturing Processes: Collaborate with Manufacturing/QA teams to define, replicate, and improve manufacturing processes on pilot-scale equipment.
- Develop and Implement Process Improvements: Design and execute experiments (DOE) to enhance efficiency, scalability, and validation of manufacturing processes.
- Collaborate with R&D Teams: Partner with R&D to analyze the impact of manufacturing processes on product performance and optimize processes accordingly.
- Pilot Unit Oversight: Provide guidance to technicians and operators running pilot units and support new process development initiatives.
- Equipment Development and Testing: Research, design, and evaluate new equipment for pilot and production units, ensuring smooth industrialization.
- Safety and Compliance: Conduct safety analyses for experimental programs and maintain adherence to departmental and industry safety standards.
- Continuous Improvement and Sustainability: Drive innovation and sustainability by identifying emerging technologies, evaluating growth opportunities, and implementing cost-effective, eco-friendly solutions.
- Data Analysis and Reporting: Design test methods, document findings, and effectively present experimental results to stakeholders.
- Literature and Market Research: Stay updated on industry trends, technical literature, and competitor technologies to ensure technological leadership.
- Support Laboratory Operations: Maintain and improve laboratory facilities, equipment, and procedures for operational efficiency.
Requirements- Bachelor degree in Chemical/Materials/Mechanical Engineering. Or Chemistry or Other Science Degree.
- 1-5 years of experience in product scale up, or 3-7 years as a process or manufacturing Chemist.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
- Thorough understanding of laboratory, environmental, and safety procedures is a must.
- Experienced making technical presentation and training to multiple levels of organizations (operators to technical managers).
- Some travel required.
