Process Improvement Principal
We are seeking a highly analytical and business-savvy Process Improvement Principal to join our team. This role is responsible for identifying, developing, and executing both strategic and tactical initiatives to improve business performance. The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in process improvement methodologies such as Lean Six Sigma (LSS) and DMAIC, project management expertise, and the ability to translate data-driven insights into compelling business cases. Just as importantly, they will demonstrate a proven ability to drive initiatives from concept through execution, delivering measurable results and sustainable improvements. Proficiency with tools like PowerPoint for effective communication and stakeholder engagement is also essential.
Responsibilities:
- Develop data-driven business cases and compelling visuals to communicate problem statements, root causes, and recommended solutions.
- Lead and execute end-to-end process improvement projects using Lean Six Sigma, DMAIC, and other structured problem-solving methodologies.
- Conduct qualitative and quantitative assessments of current operations to identify inefficiencies, waste, and opportunities for standardization, automation, or transformation.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to co-create future-state processes that enhance customer experience, reduce cost, improve quality, or increase speed.
- Overcome resistance to change by addressing concerns and demonstrating the value of proposed solutions, utilizing Change Management techniques as appropriate.
- Work with business leaders to track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs), ensuring benefits are realized, sustained, and tied to broader business objectives.
- Facilitate Kaizen events, process mapping sessions, and ideation workshops to drive innovation and alignment across teams.
- Mentor and train employees at all levels on Operational Excellence principles, Lean tools, and problem-solving techniques.
- Support the development and delivery of internal Process Improvement training programs, toolkits, and job aids to build organizational capability.
- Partner with functional and departmental leaders to embed operational excellence into strategic initiatives, team objectives, and performance metrics.
- Identify and champion high-impact improvement opportunities aligned with enterprise goals and transformation strategies.
- Build dashboards, models, and reports to analyze process performance, identify trends, and guide decision-making.
- Support the documentation of new processes and standard operating procedures (SOPs), ensuring alignment with compliance and quality standards.
- Help the Process Improvement team identify & prioritize operational improvement initiatives as they relate to strategic priorities.
- Stay current with industry best practices and emerging trends to bring innovative thinking to internal improvement efforts.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, operations management, engineering, or related field; MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred.
- 5-7 years of experience in operational leadership roles, with a proven record of leading cross-business and cross-functional initiatives that deliver significant value.
- Proven expertise in Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with focus on data-driven decision-making.
- Demonstrated ability to lead large initiatives and drive organizational transformation.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
- Experience in insurance and/or consulting is a plus.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus
- Familiarity with Intelligent Automation tools, including RPA, IDP, AI/ML is a plus.
