Classification: ExemptDepartment: 8890 EngineeringReports To: Director of Engineering Summary:The primary responsibility of the Process Engineer/R&D Packaging Specialist is to work across several platforms to identify and execute key initiatives that enable a robust packaging supply chain with optimized designs and usage in production. This position will maintain a strong understanding of the sustainability landscape to aid in the development of technical solutions that enable the company's organizational goals and compliance with regulations. This role will be directly involved in the development, maintenance, and cost optimization of sustainable and technical packaging solutions. Essential Functions: Collaboration with Internal & External Partners (60%)
- Works with internal and external partners to develop specifications, documentation, packaging test plans and plant trials.
- Works with cross-functional packaging technical experts to identify product line synergies, SKU rationalization, etc.
Product Development (30%): Accountable for all packaging R&D related activities to support new and existing business objectives to include:
- Product development and review of packaging from concept/feasibility through commercialization.
- Design validation/plant qualification of all new and existing packaging designs.
- Submits technical reports for all related phase-gates project critical path activities related to packaging development.
- Develops databases for all packaging specifications
Sustainability (10%)
- Conducts front end research and development on sustainable and/or innovative material alternatives that drive value to the company and enable achievements.
- Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:
- Must have the ability to maintain current knowledge, skills and/or certifications relevant to assigned job responsibilities.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering.
- 5-10 years of related work experience to include at least 5 years of R&D packaging experience.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Education & Experience:
- Experience in a bottling or food/beverage manufacturing environment.
Supervisory Responsibilities:None Work Location & Travel Required:This position works on-site reporting to the Princeton location. Occasional travel may be required. This position requires the ability to work off shift and weekends as needed. Work Environment & Physical Demands:Work is performed in a manufacturing setting. This position requires the ability to sit and use a computer for extended periods of time, and requires regular standing, walking, and reaching with hands and arms while maneuvering and operating production bottling equipment. Must have the ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
