Primary Objective: As a Process Engineer at CertainTeed, you will be a key player in enhancing our Glass Mat production processes. Your primary responsibility will be to analyze, control, and standardize these processes to ensure they operate at peak performance and quality. You will serve as the technical expert, addressing production challenges and leading cost-saving initiatives that significantly improve our plant's profitability. By collaborating with internal teams and external partners, you will help us achieve our cost and quality objectives, ultimately contributing to the overall success of the organization. Your role will be pivotal in driving innovation, optimizing processes, and ensuring that our production methods align with industry best practices and customer expectations.

What You'll Do: -

  • Responsibilities include designing/developing new process systems, revising existing processes, and developing and coordinating the implementation of projects, which contribute substantially to plant profitability

  • Develop and design process solutions, including small-scale projects, specifying process equipment, working with vendors and contractors to execute solutions

  • Interacts with the Team for operational troubleshooting, process improvement projects, production materials requirements, raw material availability, and Quality Step Zero requirements

  • Compiles technical data and other background information to determine equipment performance specifications and establish baselines

  • Assist with Glass Mat process improvement, such as cost savings, maximized productivity, or increased efficiency by collaboration with suppliers (raw materials, chemicals, and equipment), customers, and other Saint Gobain or Glass Mat plants

  • Assist site leader with new products or product improvement, developing trials, programs, and tools

  • Plan, lead, and execute production trials related to process optimization, product improvement, and/or new product development in conjunction with site leadership

  • Working with R&D, according to customer or business needs

  • Plan and execute small to medium size projects by coordinating safely with outside contractors

  • Collaborate with Quality team to analyze, corrective actions definition, implementation and follow up for any customer claim or Material Efficiency deviation

  • Coordinate industrial hygiene activities as necessary

  • Other duties as assigned

  • Educational Background: -A Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field is required, with a strong foundation in engineering principles.

  • Experience: -1-2 years of applied professional engineering experience in a manufacturing setting, demonstrating a solid understanding of process engineering fundamentals.

  • Project Management Skills: -Familiarity with project management principles and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.

  • Team Player: -A flexible, open-minded individual who thrives in a collaborative environment and can effectively engage with team members across all levels of the organization.

  • Communication Skills: -Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly and effectively to diverse audiences.

  • Problem-Solving Abilities: -Proven ability in problem analysis and resolution, with a strong focus on identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.

  • Interpersonal Skills: -Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships and work effectively with personnel throughout all levels of the organization.

  • Technical Proficiency: -Advanced computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office Suite; CAD knowledge is a plus.

  • Adaptability: -A proactive and adaptable mindset, willing to embrace change and continuously seek opportunities for improvement and innovation.
