Position Overview
As a PRN Ultrasound Technologist, you will perform high-quality diagnostic ultrasound examinations to support our physicians in evaluating and treating patients. This crucial role requires technical expertise, independent judgment, and a commitment to delivering the highest standards of patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently conduct all ultrasound procedures while adhering to departmental protocols to ensure accurate, high-quality imaging results.
- Verify patient identification and confirm appropriate imaging procedures prior to conducting examinations.
- Recognize and document any pathological findings during scans for radiologist interpretation, adhering to established protocols.
- Provide exceptional patient care, ensuring safety, comfort, and clarity throughout all imaging processes.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, fully compliant with safety and infection control guidelines.
- Safely operate ultrasound equipment, following departmental policies and manufacturer guidelines.
- Accurately document imaging procedures and patient information in the electronic health record system, ensuring timely uploads to PACS for radiologist access.
- Monitor supply levels and manage inventory to ensure adequate imaging materials are available.
- Undertake other duties as assigned to support departmental operations.
- Adhere to all company policies and standards.
Qualifications
- Associate Degree in Radiologic Technology or Ultrasound Technology required; a Bachelor's Degree in Radiologic Sciences is preferred.
- 1-3 years of clinical experience in ultrasound technology is required; 2-4 years is preferred.
Key Skills and Abilities
- Proficiency in ultrasound imaging techniques and equipment operation.
- In-depth knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathology relevant to diagnostic sonography.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for effective interaction with patients and healthcare teams.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills for accurate imaging and documentation.
- Ability to work independently and make informed decisions within the scope of practice.
- Commitment to patient confidentiality and adherence to ethical standards.
Licenses and Certifications
- ARDMS or ARRT - Sonography certification required.
- BCLS - Basic Life Support certification must be obtained within 7 days of employment.
