Below, you'll find important information about this role.Position Overview Provides psychotherapeutic treatment, supportive counseling, and assists with linkage, referral, and advocacy for all patients and families as assigned. As a member of the treatment team, the position is responsible for delivering a broad range of treatment and rehabilitation activities for the served population.Minimum Qualifications Master's Degree in a related field.State criminal background check, and federal check if applicable, as required by the state department of health (e.g., PA DOH, OH DOH, MD DOH, WV DHHR) based on physical work location.Valid driver's license required based on location.Preferred Qualifications Prior experience in mental health settings.Temporary Social Work permit or passing the National Board of Certified Counselors examination for licensure and certification.Core Duties and Responsibilities The following statements describe the general nature of work for this position. They are not exhaustive, and other duties may be assigned.Participate as an integral member of an interdisciplinary treatment team led by a physician.Engage in clinical activities in a treatment area and support therapeutic milieu on the unit, when applicable.Provide direct, one-on-one age-specific psychotherapy services under supervision, as required by the program.Assess developmental age and assist in developing and implementing a treatment plan tailored to developmental needs.Evaluate psychosocial needs, including high-risk indicators, and document psychosocial history and assessments.Correlate psychosocial data in a clinically relevant manner for each patient.Participate in ongoing care planning from the first day of services.Provide group therapy under supervision when appropriate.Serve as a liaison for patients and families to community agencies and services.Record and chart all patient contacts as required.Provide family therapy under supervision as directed by the treatment plan.Maintain certification and competency through supervision, training, and annual evaluations.Attend continuing education and in-service training to maintain licensure and competency.Adhere to performance expectations of WVU Medicine employees.Perform additional duties and projects as requested.Physical Requirements Must meet the physical demands necessary to perform essential functions, with accommodations available if needed. Requirements include walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, and grasping. Willingness to participate in physical restraint of patients if necessary.Work Environment Includes time in the office and interacting with patients and staff on the unit. Interaction with trainees from multiple disciplines is expected.
