Position Summary
We are seeking a talented Structural Engineer with 10+ years of experience to join our firm. BGM Engineering works on low to mid-rise buildings and other structures of all sizes and construction types, from steel-framed warehouses to masonry retaining walls to multi-story buildings. The ideal candidate should have extensive experience dealing with the NY Department of Buildings. This position is primarily remote, but the candidate must be local to NYC.
Responsibilities
The ideal candidate is capable of being both self-sufficient and working collaboratively within a design team, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously. Our projects are fast-paced. Responsibilities include:
- Developing new markets in the local region
- Reviewing and developing project proposals
- Attending local marketing events
- Supporting the team in maintaining project schedules and budgets, and acting as project executive to ensure client expectations are met
- Ensuring QA/QC processes are followed
- Managing project budgets
- Assisting in A/R collections
- Performing structural calculations for steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, and wood structures
- Reviewing drawings and calculations prepared by junior staff
- Developing detailed construction plans and details for buildings, bridges, and other structures using AutoCAD or Revit
- Creating structural models using various design software
- Conducting field visits during construction to observe adherence to documents
- Reviewing shop drawings and responding to RFIs during construction
Qualifications
- M.S. in Civil Engineering from an accredited school
- PE license is required
- Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office
- Proficiency in Bentley RAM software suite
- Excellent organizational, oral, and written communication skills
- Knowledge of local and design codes, including the NY Building Code, AASHTO, ASCE 7, ACI 318, AISC 360, and NDS
- 10+ years of relevant structural design experience
